NFL Week 17

Almost everything that matters is at 1PM today. I think the Panthers are a lock to win their game, and I hope my Jets can help them out and clear the path to the playoffs for them (as well as themselves).

But didn't you hear? Arron Brooks says that he is a great quarterback. No way he can lose now.

I found Aaron Brooks comments this week interesting.

Paraphrased from ESPN NFL Countdown - "Jake Delhomme had his chance here in New Orleans and couldn't capitalize, so he had to go. He's a good guy, he's a good quarterback, but I'm a great quarterback. He is good but has great players around him to carry him while I am the exact opposite. I'm a great quarterback on a team that doesn't gel and play great football."

Yeah. Not only did he sound like a jackass, but he also insulted his teammates. Nice work, Aaron.

Perhaps this will mean that on one play today the OL won't 'gel' and Julius Peppers will break Brooks in half

I'm in NJ visiting family and just looked at the listings for today. On CBS at 1, we get the Jets. On Fox, at 1, there is NO game scheduled. It is the last week of the season damn it. I know the Jets are playing a big game and many people here will watch it, but I find the practice of not showing a game on Fox on the last week of the season to be ridiculous.

Welcome to the NFL's broadcast rules. No 1 PM game on FOX in Baltimore either because CBS has the doubleheader. The only FOX game is the Falcons and Seahawks at 4 PM. This is why I am on my way to the bar with Sunday Ticket.

Cry me a river. I deal with this shit all season long. You how many New York Giant fucking clunkers we've been stuck with? I don't think I've even watched back-to-back games since week 7 or 8.

Hey, I dealt with it too when I lived in NYC, but it won't stop me from complaining during the last week of the season. It is just ridiculous how many big games there are at 1 that I can't watch.

Brooks has been fighting with his teammates for a while now.

How's this for an interesting start to a game?

First Quarter

Miami Dolphins at 14:55
1-10-MIA24 (14:55) S.Rosenfels pass to C.Chambers for 76 yards, TOUCHDOWN.
O.Mare extra point is GOOD, Center-E.Perry, Holder-M.Turk.
MIA 7 BAL 0, Plays: 1 Yards: 76 Possession: 0:16.

The Jets just got an extra down due to referee error. mwahahaa!

edit: and it results in a first down.

The NFL broadcast rules suck, plain and simple. Our only 1 pm game is the 49ers at New England.

The Patriot streak of scoring first in 20 straight games is now over. Pats have turned the ball over twice, the first stringers are still in and looking like they started their week off yesterday.

Not only does this put the Jets in, but I involved you in a lot of longshot bets I placed this weekend.

some more thoughts:

-for a team with nothing to play for, Pitt is looking pretty damn good against Buffalo
-Mike Martz just realized the Jets can't cover their WRs. If he can keep this in mind for the remainder of the game, I think the Rams will win.
-Carolina, what's going on down there?

They just picked up his option for next season, and McCombs is trying to sell the team, he can't afford to fire tice now he'd have to pay out the rest of his salary.

Minnesota is turning into the Boston Red Sux of the NFL, I think Berman got it right today when he mentioned the curse of Foreman's wrong way run, they have't been worth a shit since then =)

Weird stuff in Miami-Baltimore... 'fins have the ball at the one, ref signals a TD, but they take it back with no explanation. Rosenfels throws a pick two plays later... Ravens first play, Jamal Lewis is stopped, pushed back out of a pile and has the ball torn out - Ravens recover for a safety.

Thank god that Carolina is going to lose this game. Will everyone please get off their nuts already? Why the hell does everyone think this team is that talented? Mushin Muhammad is a complete fluke and you'll see him falter again next year like he has for the most of his career.

only have it on radio here but it sounds like carolina is playing absolutely horrid football.

(that was being typed before the most recent fumble)... with the Jets and Skins both winning this is horribly frustrating.

I thought Carolina was a nice story. Sooo many injuries, started 1-7... and they still have a chance at the playoffs. I was rooting for them to make it to the Super Bowl.

In a normal year, coming back from a 1-7 start to finish 8-8 would be impressive, and in this year w/ the NFC so bad and 8-8 meaning playoffs it's espicially impressive... they deserve a fair amount of credit IMO. And "if they make the playoffs they can do some damage" certainly seems a true statement, espicially given the weak NFC.

As for muhammad, this will be his 3rd 90 catch season in his career on what has traditionally been a very poor passing team. He's no Owens or Moss, but he's fine with me.

Yeah, nobody really deserves to be in the playoffs this year in the NFC except for the Eagles, Packers and the Falcons.

I agree it would be a nice story, but I still don't know what the hell everyone was talking about saying that they would be the favorite to make the superbowl in the NFC. Nick Goings? Please. When he starts to average more than 3 yards a carry, then get back to me. Delhomme is average, but everyone gives him way too many bonus points based on his "grit".

Do I sound like a bitter eagles fan? You bet.

They clinched last week. Cleveland has played a brutal schedule, and there was no way their opponents' winning percentage could drop enough. In fact, Cleveland would drop to 4 with a win and Miami and Tennessee losses.
