Duel of Ages board game
I went to a gaming club last week, and ran across a couple of guys playing a board game I found interesting. It was called Duel of Ages. Here is a link to the site .
It was pretty interesting. The premise two teams of characters are assembled to participate in a futuristic competition. The characters come from four different ages of history ancient history, age of gunpowder, modern(WW1? to current?), and the future. The map is built by players once teams are drawn randomly. The map building looks to be pretty strategic, as each terrain and map piece contribute to the characters' strengths as well as confering age specific bonuses. On top of the characters from each age, there are items from each age. Items include scooters, skateboards, rifles, grenades, flamethrowers, and lasers. There are lots, but they offer some interesting game situations, such as Ghengis Khan riding a mountain bike through a swamp armed with a flame thrower. I also saw Davy Crockett sniping at people with a colonial era rifle. In short, I am intrigued, and am wondering if anyone here had any experience with it. From my research I think the time requirement would be too much for me and my wife, but the idea has me hooked at the time. Last edited by Glengoyne : 06-22-2008 at 07:09 PM. |

I've spent about two and a half hours looking at that site today. I've been completely sucked in. If I hadn't spent far too much money buying things that I need on Ebay, I would have already ordered a copy. I think I'm only putting off the inevitable now. On the bright side, because I have the attention span of a fruit fly, I might be able to resist the urge long enough for the urge to buy to pass. |

Board Game. The basic set comes with a bunch of characters and items as well as the map pieces. There are also a good number of expansions(like seven) that include new pieces in each set. If it were collectible, this fruit fly would have already moved along. |

I have a copy of the game, if anyone would like to acquire it. It's pretty cool but I have farrrrrrrrrr too many games.
