I briefly mentioned this in the gamertag thread, but we really need an FOFC boardgame night for Carcassone and Catan.

they're on XBox Live Arcade.. I think you need to be a Gold member, but they cost about $5-$10 each

I don't think you need to be Gold to buy them, but you probably need to be Gold to play online with them. The Silver account does not prevent you from spending money on the marketplace...

I own both Catan and Carcasonne and will play anytime I can pry my kid off playing Rainbow Six Vegas, he's taken it up as a career I believe.

Yeah, Carcassonne and Catan are on there. Silver member to buy, Gold member to play against other people. More board games are coming, but which remains to be seen.
Personally, given the propitious number of Carcassonne expansions, I expect to see those available as downloadable add-ons in the future (The River is already included). Foz, are you as frightened as I am of the prospects of a Carcassonne beatdown from QuikSand? |

For what it's worth... you can play both Settlers and Carcassonne (by different names, but identical rules) at this site: AsoBrain
It's free, you can play against bot opponents or live human oppopnents, and if you like can get into "ranked" games that can start to accumulate points for winning to gather a rating for yourself in either game. For Carcassonne (a.k.a. Toulouse), at least, they have three different expansions available -- playing with all three seems to be most popular. |

Come on Quik, just lend me your 360 until you decide what to do with it!
