A Private Message from HM

Apparently HM is now sending a form PM of self-righteous indignation to all people who offend him. I am aware of 2 or 3 others already who received the exact same thing. For your reading pleasure:

Why?
I am currently suspended for two weeks, but SkyDog is going to investigate further so it could be removed soon. In the meantime I cannot post on the board, but I can send PMs.

I wanted to ask you a few questions privately. I trust you have enough dignity to keep our PM conversations here and away from the forum.

Why did you find it impossible to refrain from making snide remarks to and/or about my innocent family and me? My post was clearly a sincere effort to seek information on a very serious issue. I had not attacked or insulted anyone and you had no reason to say the things you said.

I have not ever, to my knowledge, insulted you. If I am forgetting something please point it out to me. If it was an unprovoked insult definitely point it out to me so that I can promptly apologize and eat my words. Now assuming I have not ever degraded you personally please tell me why on earth you would go to such great lengths to belittle my family? Also, why would you try so hard to make me an enemy? Your behavior simply doesn’t make sense.

If you have or had issues with me about anything why have I not received a private message from you expressing your concerns? Is using the open forum simply a way to draw attention to yourself and encourage others to help you stone me? If it is, then in fact I do feel bad for you and hope you seek attention for such unstable thoughts.

Do you truly have that much hatred built up for someone you have never even met or even remotely known? For your sake, let’s hope not and I say this for many reasons. The tide is slowly turning and more and more people are realizing that virtually terrorizing Horns constantly is not as cool as it used to be. Almost daily I get supportive messages from members of FOFC. Just reading that thread you can see at least two people who were previously known to carry ill feelings for me step and try to make things right. Please respond back with any questions, comments, or concerns you may have and I promise to get you a sincere answer right away. I hope to hear from you soon and begin working to heal some of this unnecessary bad blood.

Ha! I got the same thing.

That guy has way too much time on his hands. I'll admit I fell for it and thought he was just sending it to me.

When he says SkyDog is going to investigate further I hope to God he means investigate if it should be a lifetime ban as opposed to a two week suspension! He has to have earned a lifetime acheivement banning by now.

Apparently, there is also a "good" form PM, for the folks who said nice things to HM. Someone should post it, too.

This should be considered SPAMMING THE BOARD, and deserves a life time achievement BAN.

Seriously.

Well said, Daimyo. Obviously the suspension--the whole point of which is to illustrate that HM has been out of line--didn't get the point across.

Though it wasn't a PM, I think the following post from Horns to me is also instructive:

I for one applaud SkyDog for acting in the best interests of the forum.

What, an invitation to oral sex gets you banned around here? I'd take it as a compliment... I'd politely decline, but you know... it's still sort of flattering...

You'd think with all his cocky and funniness that he wouldn't have to stoop to trying to get it on with fellow board members...

I guess C&F doesn't work as well as he thought.

How many suspensions warrant a ban around here anyway?

I don't think I have ever come across a person that not only dug a hole for himself (as most of us do time to time) but every single posts subsequently digs the hole deeper.

Well, that does it for Horns. I had restored his ability to send PM's, because he sent me a long e-mail pleading that someone was PM'ing him with advice about being a new father and "the advice he is giving me is very important to me right now." Because of this request, I went into the control panel and allowed him to send PM's while suspended, and THIS is how he used that ability. I apologize to all of you for trusting him. He's done for good now though.

EDIT: Clarification

Probably the best solution Skydog. *applause*

Well, his home and work IP's are now banned, so he'll have to find another way to get on the internet. Sure it can be done, (just ask that other waste-of-bandwith, wignifty ) but I've made it a pain at the very least for him now.

Very appropriate for this thread.

SD, you have, in one masterful stroke, done more to achieve Galt's utopia at FOFC than anything else. You are a true leader (the Bush kind, not the Clinton kind).

I usually stay out of these issues, but I do not think it was approrriate to repost HornsManiac's private message to you. While he was wrong to abuse SkyDog's generosity to get PM permission, I think RealDeal was a little out of line as well.
