Interesting issue with the new sampler. Each individual song shows "Free" next to it, but you can't grab them individually (which I tried to do since the Elle Lawson tune has been previously free this year). If you try, you'll get error messages. Gotta click "Get Album" to snag the music.

Just a heads up.

I like how they're doing this. I occasionally get a song I want (I was planning on purchasing the Razorlight CD before just for the song). Other times it lets me get a feel for some artists I know about (Tegan and Sarah) and some idea of other groups I've heard of in relation to music I already have but haven't had a chance to hear a song from (The Stills).

Plus its free. I've only actually purchased 1 thing from Itunes (LOTR: ROTK soundtrack), but I have about 50 songs thanks to freebies and the Pepsi stuff.

Thanks for the headsup. I have a few of these already, but the ones I don't have is a great way to introduce me to music I may otherwise never have known I liked.

Both Easy Mac and cthomer5000 deserve a thumbs up in my book. Hopefully Apple makes a habit of offering those samplers.

2/15:

Kasabian - Club Foot

There's also a free audiobook this week, first time I've seen one of those offered: Louis L'Amour - Merrano of the Dry Country

The Bright Eyes and Mixtape freebies are holdovers from last week, it seems.

Easy Mac - yeah, Audible gives away free speeches and such, and the spoken word content on iTunes is through Audible. The benefit of getting it from Audible is that you don't have to import from AudibleManager, but the sound quality is a little lower...not that that matters.

This week's freebies:

Unwritten Law - Save Me
Low Millions - Eleanor
Michael Lord - Smile
Moby - Hotel Album Sampler
Lokua Kanza - Mboka

"Club Foot" from last week is still free, and so is the Mixtape freebie that's been hanging around for a while. For those of you who haven't grabbed it yet, the Universal Motown Sampler is still free, although the Atlantic/Lava one appears to not be, anymore. Carpe diem, lads.

Not a lot of new stuff this week. The Bright Eyes, Michael Lord, Moby, Low Millions, and Lokua Kanza stuff is all still free, as is the Mixtape that has been there forever.

New stuff:

TaMara - What We Shared

American Hi-Fi - The Geeks Get The Girls

Seems to be a light week for new freebies.

iTunes snuck another freebie in sometime in the last two days. Not sure if this was just one that hadn't been added yet when I checked, or if they only just recently added it and it didn't show up on day 1. If that's the case, I may need to start checking throughout the week to catch all the freebies.

Pianoramax - Tranquille

3/08 - four new freebies this week, although I'll be keeping an eye out on other days as well in case iTunes tries to sneak 'em by again. Without further ado:

Astaire - L-L-Love

Andrea Echeverri - Amortiguador

tobymac - Gone

Tyler Hilton - When It Comes

3/15 - "Beware the ides of March." Nothing terribly exciting today, although there are a couple of singles that interest me. Also a new Street Mixtape, if that's your thing. Without further ado:

Flipsyde - Someday

Polly Paulsma - She Moves In Secret Ways

Chris Glover - Stand On Your Seat

Street Official Mixtape, Vol. 5

Feist - One Evening

Little Charlie & The Nightcats - I Beg Your Pardon

Street Official Mixtape: Vol. 6

EDIT: Apparently the Mixtape is new this week. I didn't notice at first since the spot it's sitting in has had a mixtape for a month or two now, and the title is so long that change isn't immediately spotted.

About that free Bright Eyes song: I guess a couple weeks ago he pulled the ol' "Jim Morrison-Ed Sullivan" song switcheroo and played "When the President Talks To God". No matter what you think of Bright Eyes or President Bush, you have to give the kid respect for that ballsy move.

yeah, I'll try again. Otherwise, click on the song immediately above it. Once ITunes loads, Click Itunes Essentials at the top. Then it should be the second Scandanavian thing on the list. I dunno why it wouldn't work though.

The Dandelions
Vega
The Drowners

iTunes says that a song from a band called "The Fray" is free this week. When I go to download it, though, it says "buy song" with a price and not the usual "free." Anyone else seeing this?

No shit, the fray is the free single this week? i saw them in concert about 2 months ago and they were freaking awesome. This is my favorite song from their stuff. Too bad its not the original. They re-cut it in the studio when they got signed to a bigger label. The song lost a little, but its still a good song.

Maybe someone here can answer this: I want to buy an album that is available for sale at the iTunes UK store but not at the US store. Is there a way I can do this?

As far as I know there is no way to buy music that is not available in your home store.

You may be able to using this program, though the legality is somewhat suspect and may break the Itunes EULA, though I mean you're still paying for it, so...

Little blast from the past, I know, but apparently iTunes went and put together a Christmas sampler for one of their freebies.

http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/itu...er/id344104720

Kind of a...different mix, though. Some country, some soul, some Stephen Colbert.

Consider yourself warned.
