OT-Phone Help

OK, I know this is a stretch but mabye someone works for the phone company, or at radio shack or something.

Basicly, my phone wont work. I know it isn't the line because the phone company came and checked it out, so it is something in the house. I also know it isn't the phones, because I tested them all out on the line reserved for the internet, and they worked fine. When you pick up the cordless phone you get know dial tone, but I hear some weird echo, like there is a phone off the hook, but there isn't. Has this ever happened to anyone, any help would be appreciated.

Do you have DSL?

I'm guessing not since you mention a reserved line but just in case ... failing to add filters to any phone jack on the same line can cause interference like you describe.

Other possibilities include:

-- water seeping into a cracked cable somewhere on the main line (that usually produces a hissing/cracking sound more than an echo though)

-- problems related to having a satellite TV receiver connected to the phone line (just disconnect the dish rcvr from the line to check this)
