I actually had a cute 21 year old utter Marla's line after some serious u-know-what. I am still wondering if I should be proud of it as a compliment, or very disturbed.

Just be glad she didn't utter the line that was in the book.

Yeah that's the line in the movie, the line in the book is a little more controversial.

Robert Paulson was the character that Meatloaf played in Fight Club. Apparantly, Surtt noticed someone with the actual name died recently.

In the book/movie, Robert Paulson gets killed during a Project Mayhem task and is killed by police.

In the book/movie, all the fight club members are nameless because of Project Mayhem, but Edward Norton's character states that "he had a name.."

In the book, the you reacquire your identity if you are killed during Project Mayhem...thus

His name was Robert Paulson.

On the other tangent is about the compliment I received from a girl who was Fight Club fan...but that one has been explained.

Wow, searching for thoughts about the movie Sideways and I have to comment about this post (being we are talking about my third favorite movie here)..

The being clever line, is by far one of the best gems in the movie, I think, because me and my buddy at school use it all the time... I'll mention something he's done is clever, then ask how's that working out for you? And he'll say what? And I'll finish it.. heh, we're movie buffs.

I was just making an observation. I remember thinking that was one of the better lines in the movie and being surprised it wasn't in the book.

Also liked the immediate line of, "Now a question of etiquette: Do I give you the ass or the crotch?" as he passes Ed Norton, giving him the ass, but then gives the crotch to the flight attendant .

I'm pretty sure that is the movie I could probably recite the most accurately start to finish.

First rule of fight club: Don't ever associate with any loser/asshole who would ever watch fight club.

I went drinking one night with a guy I worked with at the time. After several drinks he asks "Did you see fight club?" then he tries to explain the movie (since I had not) and wants me to hit him. I did not. Several drinks later he comes back and says that I have to hit him twice because I didn't the first time. I refuse again. He then takes a swing at me, which I slipped. Without thinking I swing back. Being drunk, I missed his jaw and caught him on the shoulder on the follow thru. He went down on his back. I jumped on him and for about a minute I was on top of him throwing every punch I could while he cried "PLEASE STOP!!!" and tried to cover up.

The worst part? I ripped open a knuckle on his teeth. When it healed the scar tissue had built up so that I couldn't bend my finger. I had to use a razor to shave the scar tissue raw several times, allowing it to heal each time.

The ultimate lesson of fight club? If anybody asks you "Have you seen fight club?" use a bottle, beer stein, pool cue, or whatever is handy to crack that stupid bastard's skull open like a grapefruit.

I didn't particularly like Sideways. I was expecting too much I think. There were some decent parts... but I don't get how that guy from Wings won Best Supporting Actor. He wasn't THAT good in the movie. Just a regular part that I think could have been played by any other actor just as well.

Except for not winning Best Supporting Actor, I'd agree about Thomas Hayden Church.
