I respectfully refuse to answer the question, as I am certain you are in cahoots with Pumpy Tudors and have a plan to make the amount $0.

$115 to be exact. Surprised as I usually don't have that much. I would think $40-$60 is more the norm. Pretty much all I use cash for now is a random lunch at places with higher card mins, fruit/veggie street guy, or if I'm going to a bar where I usually don't like running a tab cause that's how a bunch of shots end up happening.

I don't usually carry cash at all. That being said, there's $26 in my "key dish" at home. $18 because I took $20 out of the ATM so I could get a hot-dog at the grocery store on Sunday, and $8 leftover from last week's similar expense.
About the only thing I use cash for now is when I go to get my $9 pizza on Friday night's and pay with a $10 and let them keep the change. So that $26 will be two weeks worth of pizzas. |

Pretty much always $0 in cash these days.
I've actually stopped carrying my wallet for the most part. I generally carry my ID and my bank card in my pocket or put them in a baggie if I am out running or biking. I have a huge 5 gallon jug of coins that I started filling up 15 years ago. It got half way in the first 2-4 years.. since then it has hardly moved at all. Change just seems obsolete these days in most things. |

Only time I ever have cash is when I go out with friends, put the tab on my card, with my friends giving me cash.

I work in East LA and typically grab lunch at a food truck or a cash-only place; otherwise it would be a pretty consistent $0.

I generally grab a couple hundred, which will last me several months, then I run on empty for several more months until cash is required. At which point I grab another couple hundred.
Right now I have $0. |

I have $26 right now, but only because I got the cash from a friend after including a purchase on my card.
99% of the time I literally have a "lucky" 5 dollar bill in my wallet and that's it. Everything goes on debit or credit. |

$151. Though it should be noted that I recently took $60 out for a Baseball game (and didn't end up needing a dollar of it).

Just under $500 - bought lunch and snacks this afternoon - for no other reason than it makes me feel like a pimp.

$125. I use cash for gas, food shopping, and....yeah, that's about it. I try to keep myself on a budget and that $125 covers everything (theoretically) that isn't monthly bills until Friday. But currently "everything" is gas and food shopping, so it hasn't been much of a problem. In fact, it being more than ~$70 today (Monday and I just put gas in the car) means I'm running a surplus!

Not trying to derail the thread but those are probably the two categories more than any other that are great reasons to have a credit card that earns points/cash back. If you've never considered it... |

About $600, but that's because I just got back from Vegas.
Otherwise I'll usually keep around $20 or so.

There's enough places that don't take cards or require a minimum for cards that I keep between 25-50 bucks in my wallet most of the time.

As the heir to an Iowa farm and currently living in the Texas Panhandle, there's probably something to both those characterizations. But yeah, it's not so much the "flush with cash" thing as the "unusually wary of banks" thing, coupled with a healthy dose of "who's going to mug me in the middle of 100 acres of corn?" I remember reading about my grandparents getting robbed on a bus on a trip to California in the '70s. My grandfather had about $2K on him, and that wasn't because of the out-of-state trip - that was just, you know, part of the harvest money. It literally never occurred to him that he'd get pistolwhipped and mugged, so he had the wad he always carried. |

$80 - which is really unusual for me as I rarely carry cash, however I've taken up the DM's job in my weekly D&D Next game .. so I need some on hand so I can send my eldest son (who plays in my group) to get a Sub while I setup for the session

I rarely use cash, but I always carry at least a little cash just in case and I always have to have at least a couple of ones. So I usually have a $20 and a few ones

Yes, I have one of those. I go back and forth on using it. I don't buy much gas (fuel efficient car and I don't go anywhere) and it's just me for food. I'm only missing out on a few bucks every month by not using it, and that gets wiped out if I buy just one thing I don't need (and that will happen because credit card = play money in my dumb brain). If I stick to just cash, it's impossible for me to get lazy keeping track of my spending and accidentally going over budget. |
