Ah, dammit.
I finally got around to upgrading from FireFox 0.8 to FireFox 1.0 because there were a couple extensions that caught my eye that were only compatible with 1.0.
Now, in 0.8, I was able to type the first few letters of a link, and FireFox would jump to it immediately so that I wouldn't have to abuse my poor eraser nubbin laptop mouse. That doesn't seem to be working in 1.0. Is that an option I have to turn on, or is that an extension I need to find (again) and redownload? |

Are you talking about Autocomplete? Forgive me for not knowing, but Firefox is just the browser in Mozilla (which I have), right?
Edit, Preferences, Navigator, Smart Browsing, check box for autocomplete |

Autocomplete is for URLs, I believe. That's not what I was looking for.
I'm talking about, if I'm on a page like FOFC, where there's lots of links, and I'm looking for a particular thread, I can type a few letters that are within the thread title and FireFox will jump me to it. In FireFox 0.8, I coulda sworn it was an extension, but I didn't see it in the extensions list. They must have integrated it for 1.0, because I just found it in the Options menu. They've updated it some now, though. It'll search for any text on the page if you just start randomly typing, rather than restricting itself to links. |

No worries. Now that I've got it on again, this is actually pretty cool. They've done quite a bit with it. They've got this 'next' and 'previous' thing in here now, which is what you'd expect for a normal browser search. If I can find a way to do previous and next without having to use my mouse, I'll be in heaven.

By the way, go buy an optical mouse for the laptop. I hate using that nubby thing or the touchpad on my wife's laptop.
