I was debating Kevin Smith in another thread on here. I think Bryant doesn't come anywhere near last week's performance... If COlston is back 100%, I'd say start him.

I would go Smith and Colston if Colston is at 100%. Here is my list - need to start 3. Kevin Smith @ Indy DeAngelo Williams against Denver Maurice Jones-Drew against GB Marshawn Lynch @ the Jets Sit Lynch? |

Brees does not seem as comfortable with Colston since C came back from his thumb injury. FWIW.

Even so, Bryant has delivered far more consistently than Colston this season, just few people noticed until he had a huge game on a national broadcast. Colston has had only 3 games all year that he made significant fantasy contributions. Bryant has done it 5 times, including 4 of his team's last 7 games. He has clearly been Tampa's #1 WR from week 7 on. Colston has not re-assumed that role in New Orleans,

Guys, money league, win here puts me in a really, really nice spot. I entered as the 7 seed, beat the 2, and now have a decent shot at knocking off the 3 to get to the finals (and our 1 seed has already lost too). Two questions:
1- Favre vs. Buffalo, Hill vs. Miami or Schaub vs. Tennessee? 1 pt per 20 yds passing, 6 for a TD, -2 for a pick 2- I need to start two: DeAngelo Williams vs. Denver, Stephen Jackson vs. Seattle, Portis @ Cincy, Ward @ Dal, Jacobs @ Dal? 1 pt per 10 yds rushing, 1 pt per catch, 6 for a td Williams is a must, but I'm not sure about who to use as my #2. Thanks a ton in advance! Last edited by PurdueBrad : 12-11-2008 at 06:41 AM. Reason: reflect addition of Shaun Hill |

Why are people so in love with Kevin Smith this week? Yes, the IND defense is suspect, but I'm guessing they go down heavily early and are throwing most of the game.

I need to to choose two of the the following running backs:
Reggie Bush @Chicago Matt Forte vs. New Orleans Chris Johnson @Houston Ronnie Brown vs. San Francisco 6 points per touchdown, 1 point per 20 yards receiving/rushing, .5 points per reception, and -2 points per fumble/interception. There is fractional scoring so I would get .75 points if one of my players ran for 15 yards in a game. |

1. I would roll with Favre personally although Schaub seems like a decent option too. You might want to find the passing yards and passing touchdowns that Buffalo and Tennessee are giving on a per game's basis and make a gut decision off of that. I would not trust Hill above either of those guys, especially against a solid defense like Miami's. 2. Brandon Jacobs did not practice yesterday so I would not rely on starting him or Ward when you can start Jackson or Portis instead. I don't think you can go wrong with either matchup. If it were me, I would probably pick Portis although Steven Jackson does catch more passes. |

Racer, I would go Forte and Johnson. I know that last time Bears-Saints met Bush popped that big TD but his celebration that day didn't sit well and they shut him down the rest of the way. I would expect the same, plus in Chicago it's cold and the field will have lingering moisture from this week. Thanks for your advice as well. Good luck! |

If Addai is out, do I put Rhodes in front of either Slaton or Chris Johnson?

Qwikshot, I would probably go Johnson if that were to happen. I would put Rhodes in front of Slaton probably, particularly if you are PPR.

Thanks PB. I'm in a non-PPR league. While Slaton did get over 100 against the Titans last time they met, I think that if Addai is out, I go with Rhodes...my opponent just lose Jacobs for this week and has very little in the way of RB depth. I'm one game away from the championship so everyone has to count. Cutler vs CAR C.Johnson vs HOU Slaton vs TENN or Rhodes vs DET B. Marshall vs CAR S. Smith vs DEN Cooley vs CIN Kasey vs DEN Tampa DEF vs ATL Andre Johnson is on the bench but he did not do well last match with TENN (29 yds), Colston is also on the bench vs CHI. I have Pierre Thomas sitting against a tough CHI-town run defense; the same for Marshawn Lynch vs a very tough NYJ matchup. Addai will sit unless it is proven he's 100% (which I know he's not). I have no backup QB at this time, it's Cutler or bust. This is an 8 team league which is why I am so deep on the bench, all the teams are (mostly).

Quick, Frank Gore is out and I'm screwed. I've got Maurice Morris vs St Louis (not sure if he even starts for Seattle), LeRon McClain vs Pitt, or Kevin Smith vs. Indy. I'm not as in love with Smith as others are in this thread but he may be the best option of the misfits I have available.

Maurice Morris should be starting for Seattle, but Jones might play some this week. Unfortunately, I know because I"m likely starting him this week (with Willie Parker vs. Baltimore no less...my other options are Mewelde Moore, D. McFadden, and Kevin Faulk since Jacobs is out).
My other league though, I have Frank Gore. It's a pretty dumb league since you get one point per ten return yards for individuals, but whatever. I'm starting Ryan Grant and Jonathan Stewart right now. My other options are Parker, M. Moore, Sammy Morris, or quickly pick up a guy like McClain, Chester Taylor, Morris, or Choice. It's a one point per ten yards league and six for a TD (plus the aforementioned return yards). |

Guys:
We are in our first round of playoff and I am on the fense of which 3 RB's to start: Adrian Peterson vs ARI Clinton Portis vs CIN DeAngelo Williams vs DEN Steve Slaton vs TEN Portis could have a big day vs CIN but the injury/feud things gets me. Slaton has a big game against TEN and has been huge for me of the past weeks. Williams has been a beast over the last 2 weeks and Peterson is Peterson. What do y'all think. |

Need to start 4 of these guys with the max being 2 RB's. I don't like the matchups for McClain and White.
RB DeAngelo Williams vs. NYG RB LenDale White vs. PIT RB Le'Ron McClain vs. DAL WR Larry Fitzgerald vs. NE WR Vincent Jackson vs. SD WR Derrick Mason vs. DAL WR DeSean Jackson vs. WAS Right now I'm leaning towards Williams, McClain, Fitzgerald and V. Jackson. Also, Favre or Roethlisberger. I'm leaning towards Favre against the Seahawks.

Pick Two:
Adrian Peterson vs. Atlanta (but he missed practice time this week) Steven Jackson vs. San Francisco (I want to believe!) Pierre Thomas at Detroit (srsly, @ Detroit) I think AP's a given at this point, as he got upgraded to Probable, but I just can't decide between Jackson & Thomas. I feel like I have to start Jackson, but I'm convinced that if I do that Thomas will (predictably) put up a huge game against Detroit (especially with Bush out). Aarrgghh.... |

Question for anyone in the vicinity of the Pats/Cards game ..
How's the weather? I have Gostakowski but if the weather is as awful as I hear it is, I assume I need to find an alternative kicker. |

It is snowing moderately in Boston right now. It's 20 degrees, although it is supposed to change to rain sometime this afternoon.

I would probably make that move. I was wrong on the temp - my plugin hadn't refreshed - it's 32 right now so we could be looking at freezing rain soon enough. Not sure when it all goes away, though.

I have Thomas starting over Peterson. I hate how this time of year, the fantasy sites all stay things like, "well you drafted Peterson so high, you have to start him every week". I don't understand that at all. Thomas seems like a more slam dunk matchup (unless New Orleans just decides to throw it every down to help Brees go after 5,000 yards). But I can see Peterson being held back some if they have a lead. Last edited by molson : 12-21-2008 at 11:10 AM. |

I made a bunch of tough decisions this week in a semi-final of one of the FOFC league:
QB: I'm going with Schaub over Warner and Thigpen. Warner's gotten me here and has been great, but he's fallen off the last few week, and is in horrible weather in New England. I'm going strictly by the matchup/weather here. RB: Jones-Drew and Pierre Thomas over Adrian Peterson and Chris Johnson. Again going with the matchups. Obviously Jones-Drew played Thursday and that turned out to be a good call. It's easy to sit Johnson against Pittsburgh, and that Thomas matchup/circumstances is just too good to ignore. Defense: Jets (v. Seahawks) over Dolphins (v. Chiefs) and Browns (v. Bengals). WR: Fortunately, three easy slam-dunk WRs, especially considering my lack of depth: Housh, Jennings, and Antonio Bryant. |

Yeah, I typically don't agree with that either. If they guy isn't performing and/or has a terrible matchup, and you have someone else who looks like a good play, you should play the other guy. The general idea is OK, though, in the sense that a guy you drafted #1 is likely to be his team's #1 offensive threat and so a "mediocre" day for him may still be 20/80/1, while your guy off the bench could end up doing 10/40/0 as much as he could explode. For WRs, I'm going Bryant as well, but am trying to decide between Evans (@ Den) and Jennings (@ Chi on MNF). It's going to be brutally cold in Chicago on Monday and if Min wins, neither of these teams are playing for anything. I could see Jennings not doing much in those circumstances. Evans is tempting, especially against Den's terrible D (and Champ may not play), but if Edwards doesn't start, we got a guy called "Hamdan" at QB. Aarrgghh x2 |

Dola: For posterity, I'm going with Jennings. Just noticed that Evans hasn't scored a TD since Week 6 or something, while Jennings scores one pretty much each week.
Edit: Besides, the Bears pass D sucks (Sorry CW!) Last edited by flere-imsaho : 12-21-2008 at 11:49 AM. |
