FOF 4 Free Agency.

Hi,

Do any of the resident experts here have any tips for how to get players to sign for you in Free Agency if you don't have the funds to pay them $6M a season?

Thanks for any advice,

Giles Klech

Try to offer a higher bonus and drop the yearly salary. You can get your cap cost lower that way. Or try to renegotiate a few player contracts on your roster.

I am on a quest to show that the Dolphins can win the Super Bowl. Or should I say Front Office Bowl, with FOF2K7.

The other think that I do to get players to sign is I rarely look for the best player available. I tend to look for the #3 or #4 player at a given position. this alows me to get several positions filled with quality players for a much lower price.

I would say in regards to signing free agents, offer them an extra year on their contract. Make it a high number and renegotiate before they get there. This spreads the bonus over a longer time so each year is worth less than it would have been without the extra year.

In Free agency i set my search as follows
Free Agents Future Potential 7 years or less experience. I will not pay more than 2.1 mill per year.

I look for positions I need. I always sign my QB's out of here some times I sign 3 of them and use one for trade bait.

After I reset search engine as follows current Value 10 years or less experience 2.1 million.

I look for players who fill positions I need and make offers.

go through 3-4 stages and repeat. Prices go down. I never bid for anyone from Stage 12 on. The odds are they will be their after the draft and you can hammer them down on the contract.

I go through my draft and then back to free agency and do it again. At thuiis point their are great bargains. I scale up each year as inflation hits salaries but I am always bottom fishing. Yiou can great players. I always have lots of cap money and after two to three years I trade these guys in their last year for draft choices. Thats where i get great players at cheaper prices for 4-6 yrs
Hope this helps.
