Is there a live scoreboard somewhere on the web, tracking her (i.e. not a leaderboard)?

Very conservative stroke on her putt for birdie, but a simple tap in par on hole 1.

Hole 11 - Par 5. This will be a 3 shot hole for all golfers today because of the rain.

Annika's tee shot - just fine. In the fairway.

She laid up on her 2nd shot, and her thrid shot is on the green maybe 30 feet away - putting for birdie.

Left her birdie putt way short, but made her par putt.

So it's 2 for 2.

I hope she makes the cut, for the record.

Thanks for the updates KWhit.

Hole 12: 433 yd par 4.

Drive - perfect, right in the middle of the fairway.

BTW, She has a really beautiful swing. It's so smooth and controlled. I wish I could do that.

2nd shot - Just on the fringe of the green. She'll have an uphill 25 footer for birdie. Should be an easy two-putt, possibly make-able.

Looks like it's a par again - a round of 72 with 18 straight pars is looking very possible at the moment...

Good shot on the par 3, just barely off the green, but a short putt...

Just over the green. Great shape, though. Maybe about 15 feet from the pin. Definitely makeable no matter if she chips or putts it.

She's two shots off the lead at one under and tied for the lead among the international players.

Superb drive at 14th, straight as an arrow.

I just think it will be exciting to see her competing with a couple of guys over the weekend. Nothing more than a purely slefish entertainment reason for me.

Fritz,

I want her to succeed because I love competitors. I love it when someone puts themselves on the line. There was a great chance Annika would/will fail today and get laughed at for the rest of her career. A much bigger chance than her succeeding.

This isn't for money (she's got plenty) This isn't for publicity (no matter what people choose to think) This is about a competitor putting herself on the line and testing how far her limits are.

I will ALWAYS cheer that on. Always.

She hit her drive 288! Wow.

2nd shot - hit right by the hole, but went by about 30 ft I guess. Still she has another birdie putt.

What butter said. The arrogant attitudes of most men, who have said she cannot succeed in a sport where musculature is a secondary factor (but, still a factor) are embarassing. The same golfers who regularly claim the the game is won with one's head and/or putting are now claiming she cannot compete because of strength issues.

I think her shot to the green on 14 does illustrate her disadvantage though. She might have stuck that shot with a higher iron.

For my DC area brethren, the biggest reason I am rooting for her to make the cut is because possibly the most offensive (and ridiculous) comments have been made by local talk show host Steve Czaban. Some of the rest of you may have heard him sub on Rome or on his new syndicated evening show. I would LOVE to hear him have to eat crow.

Lucky shot! The Force is with her today...

Edit: She just carried the green bunker and got a lucky bounce that directed the ball left, towards the cup...

Great break at the par 3 16th.

Just missed the bunker, but took a kick straight toward the hole. The ball ended up about 8 feet from the pin. Great birdie chance.

I want her to succeed to prove to the males in the sport that it is possible, or even likely that several current LPGA'ers could do well on the current tour. They do take their golf WAY too seriously. (SEE: Casey Martin)

I do think that any women that want to play the tour regularly should qualify, though.

I fail to see how my view is sexist.

Go Annika go!!!!!

I'll admit that the whole "underdog" thing is huge with me and it would make me interested no matter what. But...I'm also glad that she is kicking ass for the sake of KWhit. Seriously. K has not believed that she could do what she is doing but he really seems more pro golf than sexist about it. It's a refreshing view he's taken and it's equally refreshing to see how his attitude is changing as she plays. Good stuff.

I'm not a golf fan per se or a golfer but I do consider it a sport and will watch and enjoy it when the whim strikes me as it does now. I am keeping up with this; it's good for golf and even though it's not my sport it is a sport and I'm excited over that too. I really want her to kick ass so that 1) folks will realize it's about beating par not beating x/y chromosomes and 2) it's the Rocky Balboa syndrome.

Unlike Ms BJ King, Annika hasn't made it a sex issue. She's made it a competition issue and as the great one ( or one of them anyway ) said, "it ain't bragging if'n you can do it. She's doing it. A wiser FOFC'er than me said that one cannot paint the entire male/female issue in re competition based on how bad she may perform which is true but I'd say the opposite is aso true.

It may not be a true indicator of her talent yada yada but if she does well it WILL show that the competition has been more normalized as any given male non superstar would be happy with her results. Competition wins and thats a good thing. Competition needs to win over stereotypes. It's the fair thing.

As of now, she is playing a terrific round of golf. It's all the more exceptional when you realize this isn't just another event for her, this is a "major" type atmosphere for her.

The putting has been shaky at times, but she's never been in any real danger of dropping a stroke either. She's playing just like she does on the women's tour, hitting GIR and giving herself a chance.

It's a long day. It'll be a longer day tomorrow. Still, I don't think she could have scripted the first 8 holes any better.
