What's love got to do with it?
So this thread is basically for the guys who are HUGE sports fan. I have a story to back this question up, but I dont know if I want it to be revealed yet, so here is the question.
If you had to choose between your woman (or man) and between something you really loved, lets say your favorite sports team or favorite college sports program, who would you choose? Okay, what the hell, I'll tell the story. I am from Houston, Texas, and my boyfriend of 3 years (GE) is from Memphis. When we graduate from college in May I told him that I would attend the University of Memphis until I obtain my Masters degree, and then I wanted to move to Texas, or to where ever I was being offered the most money. He basically refused and said that he could never leave Memphis because of his love for University of Memphis athletics. He was raised watching them play, and couldn't live being outside of that raggedy little town. So that is my basic question, would any of you guys choose a school or sports team over your woman? Or is he alone? Or am I just silly? Thanks for the serious answers in advance. Last edited by LoneStarGirl : 02-12-2006 at 07:11 PM. |

If he would choose a sports team over you then you aren't really that important to him and should move on to someone who wouldn't.
Also, here's a free apostrophe to insert into your thread title to make it correct: ' |

(nevermind)
Funny side note (relatively speaking) to the thread, I saw Farrah had responded to the thread and clicked it thinknig that she had started it so when I read about her BOYFRIEND not wanting to move my first thought was "Arlie's gonna be pissed when he reads this one.". Relationships are about compromise. If you both want to make it succeed, then you will have find a middleground that you can both live with, and make it work.

a very appropriate topic for a couple to discuss on a public message board. yes, every man loves having such things spread around to internet strangers.

So we should lie?
In addition to my previous statement, I would modify it thusly: if said boyfriend is actually suiting up for one of the local teams he's mentioned, then it's more understandable. Otherwise, I'd remind him that through the magic of television, he can still follow his favorite local teams. Once they get good enough to matter, that is.* * Another reason why an unhealthy attachment to any Memphis team is pure insanity, especially when nookie is on the line. As usual, a woman is only telling her side of the story. By the way, I advised against her posting this. She does not listen.

Do you guys not own a TV? I'm obsessed with Ohio State Athletics, I live 2 hours away from Columbus. TV and the internet are pretty nice to have.

It is not like we are actually going to meet you guys any time soon or anything. And while we were arguing he says 'fine go post this argument on the message board' but as soon as i sit down to type it, he gets all antsy. Men.

I love UTEP athletics as much as (if not more than) GE loves Memphis athletics yet I haven't lived in El Paso in nearly a decade.
Just sayin'...

No comment on the original topic, but my wife attended the University of Memphis. She lived in Memphis until her graduation and then moved to New Orleans for graduate school at Tulane. I'm actually more obsessed with U of M athletics than she is. I want to live in Memphis more than she does. I'm also obsessed with my alma mater's sports programs down in New Orleans. Somehow, though, we ended up in southwestern Pennsylvania.
Anyway, nothing is better than Memphis basketball and football. Don't ever leave!!

I would choose Mrs. A over my favorite sports team. I'm pretty sure that was implied in the whole "for better or for worse, etc." deal. Even if it weren't, I kinda have a crush on her.
And it's good to have you back, HA. |
