Dartmouth also loses today, so we are just percentage points back in the race for first place! Rich Nichols had a huge game, with 7 boards and 21 points. Perez also played great, with 15 points.

Our inability to really play a competitive game on the road has cost us first place. We had nobody scoring in double figures today.

You can really see the difference in the talent level of conferences by looking at your stats - Perez dropped by a couple points per game, despite the fact that this was supposed to be his breakthrough year. Brewton also put up fewer points than the previous season.

Off-Season Procedures

Hans Brewton, despite missing the end of the season, was good enough to be named to the Ivy League 2nd team.

Our recruiting class was ranked #152. Kansas had the top class this season.

I was offered a few job, one being James Madison, but I declined them all, of course.

Our new head recruited left us for a job at Texas Tech. Cannot really blame him. He did a nice job for us though.

Jason Floyd is our new recruiter. He is only 25 years old and this is his first job, but he is rated 40 in recruiting. We should be fine with him.

We have 11 openings on our schedule, 7 which can be home games. I am goignt o schedule pretty soft, outside of a couple big names.

At the end of May we have scheduled the following teams: Liberty, Holy Cross, Sacred Heart, Columbia, and Syracuse.

As June comes to an end, we also schedule: Army, Navy, New Hampshire, and Rider.

Recruiting begins in July as well and we have 5 spots to fill. This is going to be a tough recruiting year.

We wrap up our OOC schedule in August with Colorado and IPFW.

November 1st finally arrives and we get ready for training camp. We also get an early commitment to Colgate, as well as one going elsewhere.

PF John Eveland from Massapequa, NY will attend St. Joe’s.

PG Tory Davis from Topton, PA has committed to Colgate. Tory is a 3 star recruit. His strengths are passing, 3 point shooting and perimiter defense. Should be a perfect PG for us.

Here is a look at our 2006-2007 roster as we get ready for our opening game.

CENTERS

50 Garrett Welch C Sr 6'11" 264 Keyser, WV

Garrett has worked on his shot and his defense, and should be a useful player for us, and I decide to give him the starting nod over the freshman this year.

34 Sammy Hynes C Sr 6'10" 242 Malverne, NY

A walkon who should not see the floor.

12 Carl Jones C Fr 6' 9" 249 New Castle, DE

A true freshman. He will not score a lot for us, but we will need him to grab boards and play D. I am not expecting a miracle this year, but just some consistency and improvement as the year goes along.

POWER FORWARDS

35 James Hale PF Sr 6' 7" 240 Walpole, MA

A good rebounded and that is it. Not going to see the floor too much.

33 George Jackson PF So 6'11" 236 Bemidji, MN

A terrific shot blocker and cleans the defensive boards. Not sure how much he will get into the game though.

SMALL FORWARDS

20 Tony Brown SF Sr 6' 9" 242 Fairport, NY

Tony will start at PF for us. He can score a little, and plays decent defense. Not really strong on the boards, but he is our best choice here.

SHOOTING GUARDS

2 Warren Pond SG Sr 6' 5" 230 New York, NY

Warren could lead the league in steals if he played regularly, but he won’t. Still, he should be a decent backup given about 10 minutes a game.

51 Dennis Aultman SG Sr 6' 8" 224 New York, NY

A useless walkon

0 Hans Brewton SG Jr 6' 5" 219 Oriskany, NY

Hans is the man, and keeps getting better every year. He will start at the SF spot for us.

11 Emmett Williamson SG Fr 6' 4" 182 Weston, CT

Emmett is a freshman with some incredible offensive potential. He will need to improve on defense to earn PT.

POINT GUARDS

4 Jeramy Perez PG Sr 6' 2" 205 Willimantic, CT

We are looking for a huge senior season for Perez. He is our SG.

14 Joseph Tiller PG Sr 6' 3" 212 Corbin, KY

An awesome shoot, and decent defender. He will see increased PT this year, his last.

5 Sydney Greenwood PG Sr 6' 2" 207 Allentown, PA

Sydney has not developed into the player we hoped he would be, and in fact has been passed by others.

53 Thomas Hogan PG Jr 6' 1" 183 Vienna, MO

Hogan will again be demoted to the bench after taking the starting PG job midway through last year. I like him, but it just seems to me like Hatch is the better option. He may take over again this year, we shall see.

24 Jack Hatch PG Jr 6' 3" 188 Collinsville, CT

Hatch looks like he could really be the man. He will get the chance again this year.

This one was a nail biter, but we hang on to go 3-0 on the season. Tony Brown wins the POTG award for the third time in three games. He scored 14 and grabbed 8 boards. He has been a pleasant surprise early on. Perez also chipped in with 10.

November Wrap-Up

We finish the first month at 4-1, but could have easily been 5-0. Still, not too bad. Brown has been playing great and we hope he can keep it up for us.

SF Gaylord Ainsworth from Cooperstown, NY has committed to Uconn.

C Arron Reed from Deer Park, NY has committed to Rutgers.

We gave the Cuse a real scare on their home court. This is a sign of progress my friends. Tony Brown played very well against a top team, with 14 points and 5 boards. Foul problems plagued us all day though.

December Recap:

PF David Dombrowski from Bismark, ND has committed to Colgate. David is a 2 star recruit. He should be able to play some defense for us, and comes in as a pretty decent scorer, but doubtful he can improve upon it.

C Brian Hobbs, from Lyndonville, NY has committed to Colgate. Hobbs is a 3 star recruit. He will struggle to score, but will shut down opposing centers, and really clean up on the boards.

PF Justin Penn from Middletown, MD has committed to College of Charleston.

C Joe Short from North Easton, MA has committed to Uconn.

Our defense was excellent, but they shut is down as well, and pulled out the very ugly victory. Perez scored a dozen but had absolutely no help at all. Two of our starters put up a big goose egg.

We now drop our first two conference games, and both were at home. This is not a good sign at all. Perez, like usual, leads the team in scoring with 13 points, but other need to step up and in a hurry.

We finally get on the board in conference play. Now that the first win is out of the way, hopefully we can go on a little run before we take ourselves out of it before the end of January. Perez was in big foul trouble and did not score a point for us. Hans took up the slack and led the team with 15.

January 2007 Wrap Up

PG Efren Quick from Reading, PA committed to Colgate. Efren is a 3 star recruit. He is your prototypical drive and dish point guard, but the nice thing is he is a great finisher on his drives so the defense has to respect him. Could add a nice dimension to our offense.

SG Ronald Feliciano from Plymouth Indiana committed to Indiana State.

Where in the heck was this offense all season long? Hogan led all scorers with 22. Perez had 19 and Brewton had 17. Nice to see my three best players all showed up for the same game for the first time all year.

Off Season Procedures

Our recruiting class was ranked #113. St. John’s had the #1 ranked class.

Our prestige level is at 34

No job offers this year. Can’t say I am surprised.

I fired my coaching assistant and will look for somebody with better X’s and O’s.

We have Hired Riley Simmons to replace him. He is 54 years old and a nice hire, I think. He is rated 50 on offense and 43 on defense. He was recently fired from Florida, so he has a nice pedigree there.

We have 10 games to schedule OOC this year. We will again schedule soft, with just a couple tougher games.

As of June 1st, we have scheduled games with: Liberty, Long Island, Bucknell, VMI and Texas Southern.

As of July 1, we have games with: Alcorn State, St. Bonnie, Sacred Heart, Stony Brook, and Vermont.

Recruiting starts now and we have 4 spots to fill.

I might get a bit more in tonight, but then this dynasty goes on a break for a week, as I will be on vacation.

Thanks for reading!

Any chance of seeing you pick up a FBB dynasty using some of the draft-classes from this college dynasty?

Coder, I don't own FBB, and while usually I would pick up that game because this one is well done, and I have heard good things about it, in this case I despise the NBA and really have no interest.

I'll be getting going on this again either tonight or tomorrow, starting with a quick re-cap to catch everyone up to speed on where we are.

I also see I have some competition in the FBCB dynasty department.

Aside from the fact that I scheduled Colgate, I don't think it's any sort of competition Besides me getting Campbell to the national title game first, of course. :P

What do you have your injury setting set to? I got 3 injuries in my first game with the injury setting at 4, dropped it to 3 and I'm still seeing about 1 per game, but it's only been 5 games...

I think I dropped it down to 2 or 3, I will have to check and get back to you. I like the way the injuries work on my setting though. I get maybe 1 a week, but they are normally minor and the player is listed as 90+% for the next game, which seems reasonable since players are getting bumps and bruises all the time.

So far, I have had only 2 longer term injuries where the player was not available for several (or longer) games.

Oh, and I would schedule your team, but I am not even sure who they are or what conference they play in.

I think I like the injury setting at 3, I am also seeing a minor injury here and there but nothing major, but my sample size is too small.

http://cbs.sportsline.com/u/basketba...logos/CAMP.gif

Picture that ugly ass ORANGE camel painted in center court of a basketball court so big that it stretches from one free throw line to the other. Welcome to Campbell's home court.

I actually only know about them for two reasons... they host a very, very good basketball camp for junior high and high school students every summer which I went to a couple of times, and, they snuck into the NCAA tournament one year and played then #1 in the nation Duke... it was a huge local story. They're in the Atlantic Sun conference right now.

Anyway, enough threadjacking, go Colgate!

Marmel - if you have the draft files saved, I'd do an FBB dynasty on it. (Even though I don't really like the NBA, I'm a big fan of FBB).

I should have a patch available in the next day or two that will address the injury situation so it works better by default. Also, there will be more freedom in adjusting the frequency of injuries and academic suspensions. They were both rather high in the initial release.

As we are about to start the 2007-2008 College Basketball Season, and since I have been away for a week or so, I figure this will be a good time to do a recap on the first four years of this dynasty. Then I will introduce our players for this upcoming season and get back into it!

Here is how we stacked up the first 4 seasons:

Season W L CW CL Rank RPI Prs Result
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2006 13 15 7 7 220 199 34 No Postseason
2005 14 14 8 6 247 240 33 No Postseason
2004 21 11 12 2 70 116 31 Loss in NIT Round 2
2003 14 15 8 6 251 241 27 No Postseason

We started off in the Patriot League and hovered around 500 for much of the season. In 2004 we had a terrific year, losing only 2 conference games and winning over 20 on the year. We lost in our conference tournament, but were impressive enough to get an invite to the NIT tournament, where we defeated DePaul in the first round, but lost in the second.

After that great season, we moved up to the Ivy League Conference, but we have struggled a bit there. Certainly we are not terrible, but we are hovering around 500 for 2 straight years, and are a middle of the pack team.

We have had only a couple impact players come through the Colgate program so far. Our best is PG Jeramy Perez, as evidenced by our top 10 single game scoring performances:

Welcome to the 2007-2008 Season!

First up is our roster:

CENTERS

12 Carl Jones C So 6' 9" 259 New Castle, DE

Carl will be our starting center. We are not going to look for him to score all that much, but he should clean the boards for us. He is a great shot blocker and should intimidate teams from taking it inside on us.

2 Brian Hobbs C Fr 6'10" 258 Lyndonville, NY

Hobbs shot is OK, he is not going to score double digits every night, but is good enough to keep defenses honest. He is tremendous defense presence in the post though. He will start at PF for us.

35 Warren Orth C Fr 6' 9" 228 Norton, MA

Orth is a walkon, who can rebound, but does not offer anything else that will give him any significant playing time.

POWER FORWARD

33 George Jackson PF Jr 6'11" 238 Bemidji, MN

Another guy who can rebound and block shots, but offers no other help on the court. Minimal playing time for George.

31 David Dombrowski PF Fr 6' 8" 223 Bismarck, ND

A solid shot finisher inside and a good defensive player. He is only a freshman, so we would like to see him make some strides over the next year or two. He will get some decent PT.

3 Lorenzo Winkle PF Fr 6'10" 228 Bakersfield, CA

Another Walk on. End of the bench player.

SMALL FORWARD

45 Richard Benjamin SF Fr 6' 8" 226 Garden Grove, CA

I am not exactly sure why we offered Rich a scholarship. I doubt we will see much of him in his career.

SHOOTING GUARD

0 Hans Brewton SG Sr 6' 5" 219 Oriskany, NY

In his Senior season, we are looking for Hans to be the star of this team. He can do it all, and will start at the SF spot for us. I expect our team to do as well as Hans.

11 Emmett Williamson SG So 6' 4" 184 Weston, CT

Emmitt is a scoring machine, but his defense is pretty poor, which will limit his time. Still, I can’t keep a shooter this good, and with so much potential on the bench too much. He will see some decent PT.

POINT GUARDS

53 Thomas Hogan PG Sr 6' 1" 185 Vienna, MO

Tom has a sweet shot, is only average from 3 point range, and is a good passer. His defense lacks, but he will start at SG for us.

24 Jack Hatch PG Sr 6' 3" 188 Collinsville, CT

Hatch also has a sweet shot, but since he can completely shut down anyone he covers, we are going to put him at the PG spot. His passing is not quite as good as Hogan, but the trade off is worth it to me.

10 Tory Davis PG Fr 5' 6" 168 Topton, PA

This freshman shows a lot of potential and will see some decent PT in his first season.

43 Efren Quick PG Fr 6' 3" 193 Reading, PA

Another freshman with potential. Not as much potential as Tory, but still could help us out in a few seasons. I will give him a few minutes per game this season.

We start out the season on the right foot with a 40 point blowout on our home court. Emmett Williamson led the team with 18 points off the bench, in just 18 minutes of play. Hogan and Brewton each scored in double figures as well. Brian Hobbs pulled down 9 boards for us.

We take a step back today with a bad loss at home. Hans scored 18 to lead the team, and Emmett was great off the bench again with 14 points. Hobbs pulled down another 9 boards, but our defense could not get the job done on the other side of the floor. We let their SG go off for 25 points.

We get back on track, but this one was too close for comfort. Hans Brewton led the team with 10 and was our only player scoring in double figures. Brian Hobbs got shutout on the scoreboard and only had 4 boards as he was plagued with foul trouble. Tom Hogan, our SG scored 8 and had 10 boards for us.

PF Chris Eliason from Brooklyn, NY has committed to Colgate! Chris is a 3 star prospect. He gives us a scoring threat on the inside and we have high hopes for his continued development on defense.

Our first road trip ends in defeat. Our defense held them to just 53, but we could not score at all. Well, Hans Brewton put up 16 and Hatch chipped in 10, but they did not get much help. Carl Jones played terrible, scoring no points and grabbing just 2 boards in 26 minutes of play at our center spot. Hogan grabbed another 10 boards from the SG position.

A totally dominating performance on defense, but the offensive problems do worry me. Brewton, Hogan and Hatch all scored in double figures, but our inside game is really struggling to score. I may need to move somebody with an offensive threat into the inside.

After this game, I decide to promote freshman David Dombroski into the starting Center position, and demote Carl Jones to 6th man. We will see how that works out.

December 23, 2007

We get our first road win of the year, thanks to our defense. It seems like that is how the season will play out. If we can shut them down we should win, if not, we are not going to score enough to win. Brewton has his best offensive game of the year with 22 points. Dombroski scores 4 and grabs 4 boards in his first start. He played 21 minutes.

December Recap

PF Robbie Coats from Muncie, IN has committed to Wisconsin.

SF Stephen McNeil from Baltimore, MD has committed to Colgate! Stephen is a 3 star prospect. We will need him to work on his jumper but he has the potential. He is better from long range already, so he will give us a nice 3 point threat early in his career. His defense and hands are above average.

PF Mark Alpert from Schenectady, NY has committed to Colgate! Mark is our third 3 star prospect to committ. He is a defensive stopper, in a big way. He already has some nice moves on offense, but we are not sure how much he can improve on that. He has very nice hands and court vision for a big man.

I have no idea what happened here. We did not perform on either side of the court. Must be the new patch. J Brewton was awesome! He scored 21 but nobody else had more than 5 points in the day.

Now we come back on the next day, with no rest and suffer a loss at home. I can’t figure this team out. Brewton led the way for us with 17 points. Hatch has another fine game by scoring 14 and 3 assists with 4 boards. Hobbs had 8 boards and 8 points, but the defense let us down today.

We seem to rebound fine after a loss, which is a good sign. It is those extended losing streaks that kill you. Hatch continues to score in bunches, he led the team with 19 today. Hobbs chipped in with 10 and pulled down another 8 boards. Emmett Williamson added 10 points from the bench.

Even though Syracuse came in with an 8-9 record, this is a marquee win for us against an interstate rival, and a big time program. The student storm the court after the win, realizing it is the biggest in school history, possibly! Brewton stepped up when it mattered the most and led all players in scoring with 27 points!

Brewton was held to just 2 points, which hurt our chances, but the freshman, Dombroski stepped it up with 8 boards and 11 points. Hobbs also had 11 boards, but we could not find any offense.

And there goes the season. Hans struggled because he came out of the game with a broken leg. He is out for 2 months, minimum. His college career is basically over now. Emmett Williamson will have to step in to the starting SF spot.

We drop a game at home to the conference leader. Emmett Williamson led the team in his first start of the year, in place of Brewton, with 19 points. Hatch added 18. Hobbs had 9 boards, but was shut out on offense.

We are on a bad skid and cannot seem to stop it right now. Hatch led the way with 17, but I am really impressed with Emmett, a sophomore, who had another 14 points and 5 assists today. He is earning himself serious consideration for a starting job next season.

We avoid falling to .500 on the year, and instead pick up a road win to snap the losing streak and improve to 12-10 on the year. Hogan was our only player with double digit scoring. He had 14. Stat wise we were quite unimpressive, but we will take the win however we can get it.

February Recap

The month does end with some absolutely fabulous news.

PG Earl Barnett, from Groton, CT, has committed to Colgate. He is our 4th 3 star recruit to commit this season! Earl already has an awesome jump shot and his three point shot is coming along. His defense and passing is way over average as well. Right now he is penciled in as a 4 year starter at the point!

Notice Syracuse made the final top 25 poll, and remember we beat them. If we had Hans Brewton for the rest of the season, we could have made some noise in conference.

Drexel and Monmouth get NIT invites and will play in the first round. St. Francis also gets an NIT invite and will have a first round bye.

Drexel gets crushed by Western Illinois in the first round, but Monmouth gets by Indiana State, 58-55.

Monmouth loses in the 2nd round of the NIT to Maine, 74-49.

St. Francis beats Evansville in the 2nd round (after their bye game), 69-64.

In the NCAA tournament, Wagner hands in with the #4 seed Kansas, but finally goes down, 61-55. Wagner gave them quite the scare though.

Right before we are ready to hit training camp, we get a commitment from a recruit.

SG Wilson Le, from Walworth, NY has committed to Colgate. Wilson is a 3 star prospect. He is a tremendous shooter already, with a lot of room for improvement. He plays better than average defense. He also plays big for SG, he is 6’6 and can post up to score, and double team down low effectively.

We break camp, and are ready for an exciting 2008-2009 campaign. Here is a look at our roster, with starters in bold.

CENTERS

12 Carl Jones C Jr 6' 9" 262 New Castle, DE

Carl is a defensive specialist, and a very good shot blocker, but offers nothing on offense. He will see some PT, maybe the 2nd or 3rd guy off the bench.

2 Brian Hobbs C So 6'10" 269 Lyndonville, NY

Hobbs is even a better defensive player, but not as good of a shot blocker as Carl Jones. He doesn’t have much scoring ability though. Another bench player that will see a bit of time.

35 Warren Orth C So 6'11" 236 Norton, MA

Warren is a decent walk on player, but will not see much court time.

POWER FORWARD

33 George Jackson PF Sr 6'11" 240 Bemidji, MN

George should be able to contribute on offense, but we will really look for him to clean the boards. He has the talent to average double figures in rebounds. He is also a nasty shot blocker. He plays adequate defense and will start for us at PF.

31 David Dombrowski PF So 6' 8" 223 Bismarck, ND

David does only 2 things well: score and play defense. Those are key skills for me, and after his nice showing in his freshman year, I give him the start at Center.

3 Lorenzo Winkle PF So 6'10" 229 Bakersfield, CA

Lorenzo is average across the board. Hopefully, he will continue to improve and be able to help us out on occasion.

0 Chris Eliason PF Fr 6'10" 210 Brooklyn, NY

Chris has a nice shot and can get around on defense. We will give him some playing time, and hope he shows improvement over his career.

40 Mark Alpert PF Fr 6' 8" 256 Schenectady, NY

Mark’s defense is phenomenal, but he will have to work on his other skills before he is a real contributor. The potential is there though.

SMALL FORWARDS

45 Richard Benjamin SF So 6' 8" 227 Garden Grove, CA

Mop up minutes, if that. Rich really doesn’t even deserve the scholarship he has.

20 Stephen McNiel SF Fr 6' 6" 231 Baltimore, MD

McNeil is a 3 point sharp shooter. He plays good D inside and outside, and gets the nod as our starting SF as a freshman.

SHOOTING GUARDS

11 Emmett Williamson SG Jr 6' 4" 185 Weston, CT

Emmett impressed last year, and earns the starting spot this year. He is deadly from 3 point range and can do an adequate job covering his man.

POINT GUARDS

10 Tory Davis PG So 5' 7" 170 Topton, PA

A great passer, and a good defender, but his lack of offense keeps him on the bench. He should be one of the first couple off the bench though.

43 Efren Quick PG So 6' 3" 194 Reading, PA

His defensive problems will hurt his playing time. He is average to above average in most other key skills, and is a good passer.

1 Earl Barnett PG Fr 5'11" 168 Groton, CT

Earl has just a sick shot. He is money from the floor, but needs to develop his 3 point shot better. He is a great defender and can shut the other teams PG down. We would like for him to work on his handle and passing, but he gets the start as a freshman.

(at) Colgate 55, Liberty 45

We get off to a nice start, but Liberty is really a terrible team, and I don’t want to read to far into this. Emmett led the team with 14 points. Dombroski chipped in 11 with 6 boards. As expected George Jackson pulled in 11 boards. The two freshman, McNeil and Barnett struggled, only scoring 2 point combined.

We struggled, but pulled this one out at the end. Hartford is pretty bad, and I am a bit concerned with the offense. Emmett scored 15 and Dombroski added 10. Jackson is cleaning up the boards, he had another 12 today. Earl Bennett had a good day at PG with 9 points, 6 boards and 3 assists.

Holy Cross was 1-5 coming into this game and took us to task on our own court. Settle in for a long season guys. Emmett scored 17 and Dombroski 12. I am already considering benching the freshman and getting some experience in there. They have 1 or two more games to prove something.

Go figure, we can win on the road, but not at home. This brings our record to 2-3 and snaps a 3 game losing skid. Bennett again leads the time, with 16 today. Emmett was sensational, scoring 14 and dishing out 7 assists and grabbing 7 boards. Dombroski had 12 points and 6 boards.
