the war between websites and ad-blockers

So I've noticed for a while now certain web sites that can tell if you're using ad-blocking software and make you wait to watch a video, or even require you to turn it off in order to view a video, but I've now noticed a webpage that simply won't load the text content of an article if I have my ad-blocker enabled (RollingStone.com is the site and AdBlockerPlus is the plug-in).

I get the response by content sites to fight back against ad-blocking as it must be cutting into their revenue a bit, but this particular one bugs me in that there's no warning that I can find on the site saying "if you use ad-blockers you won't be able to view our articles".

I'll give the programmers credit that they can detect the use of ad-blockers, and I'm curious if those that write these extensions will have the ability to "hide" their presence from web pages (setting off an inevitable back and forth code war)?

There's been ad blocker blocker blockers for a while.
