I hope Sak is not officiating the VT vs. PITT game. The officiating has been absolutely horrible and inconsistent.

First big test for Washington as they visit Utah. A bit of extra intrigue as the Utes QB Troy Williams transferred out of Washington a couple years back and clearly still has some rough feelings about Chris Petersen and the Husky coaching staff (he was a Sark recruit).

So if Clemson loses in a close fashion, say something like 30-28... does Louisville pass them in the rankings?

I don't think it matters at this point. If Clemson wins the Atlantic and then the ACCCG, even with one loss, they're going to be ranked higher than Louisville.

I doubt most of this lasts long, but UVA with the early lead on Louisville, UM and MSU tied, and UCF up on Houston has me paying more attention to the noon games than I thought I would.

Well damn, UVA just a bit short.
WVU bubble bursts.
And Georgia Tech gets a highlight reel day from Justin Thomas to avoid a crushing loss to Duke on homecoming. He's a real WTF/WTG player, capable of the spectacular or the spectacularly bad.

And Minnesota is bowl eligible.

A little surprised at how well MSU was able to run the ball today, though I definitely thought they'd make a game of it and they did that except for the second quarter. Michigan makes more than enough plays to win 32-23, and gets one monkey off their back. They should be able to take care of business the next three with Maryland, @ Iowa, and Indiana coming up. Ohio State though I still think will beat them, much as I'd like to be proven wrong.

Texas is on pace to give up 42 and I'd argue they've played good defense today.

Ohio State looking like they want to through things into complete chaos behind Bama and UM.

Texas could have run another 20-25 seconds off the clock on that 3rd down play before the go ahead fg. Could cost them here.

Tennessee needed six plays (including a defensive penalty) to score from the South Carolina six yard line. And that's really about all that has to be said about the sorry state of the Vols O-Line play at this point.

Playoffs are set. Big 12 out.

Champion bracket from the other 4 barring an upset (Washington), then maybe 2 from a conference.

I think the Big Ten can complicate things. If Michigan loses to Ohio State and then Wisconsin wins the conference, I don't know that anyone necessarily gets in.

Kinda weird one in Oxford so far. 22-20 Ole Miss over Auburn at half but ...
Combined yards: 623
Combined yards per play: 7.2
Combined first downs: 31

Yet five field goals and only four TDs between em.

I think a 2 loss B1G champion Wiscy would and should be a 3 seed.

Back and forth they go in Oxford.

While in Columbia, Tennessee is straining hard to crap the bed.

You're quite the wordsmith there, Jon .

Nebraska and Wisconsin going to overtime, while it looks Boise State might have just lost on a ... safety? ... inside of two minutes left. It's been a crazy day.

Did it the hard way, but good to see Wisconsin win that one after the close call against Ohio State. Nebraska-OSU should be very interesting next week.

In a span of about 60 seconds, my night just went from Ole Miss being in a barnburner & Tennessee looking nearly dead & buried to Ole Miss needing a near-miracle to comeback & UT having signs of life.

Let's just start the Dormady era now, cause the Dobbs era is getting very tiresome.

He's an inconsistent head case that I'm increasingly convinced has attention span issues or something, and the staff continues to fail to find a way to get a team to play four quarters. He looked like the freshman QB most of the night.

That's not caused by injuries or depth problems or the bad O-Line, that's on Dobbs & the so-called coaching staff.

I would like to thank Wyoming and South Carolina for making me a crapload of money tonight. Got them both at +13.5 lines, Wyoming a -105 even then, and got both on the moneyline at +650.

Meanwhile Coastal Carolina cruised to an easy win over Presbyterian by about 30 points in their last road game of the year. They also picked up their first ever Conference tournament win in the Sun Belt...in woman's cross country a ways to go before their first football title in the conference I think.

Shout out to Craig Bohl. Three years in Laramie and he has the Pokes knocking off ranked teams. Hope they can keep him because he'll get offers after this season, especially if they win a few more games.

I have a feeling a lot of teams will shy away from him since he's already 58, but he seems like the kind of guy that a power 5 doormat should take a flyer on.

While the wheels may not quite be officially off in Knoxville, watch for flying lug nuts.

RB Jalen Hurd -- who needed less than 500 yards to become the school's all-time leading rusher, and still had nearly a season & a half of eligibility to get there -- is transferring out. Some reports say it's about playing time, others say it's about wanting to play in an I-formation, others say it's because he wants to move to wide receiver (?!?!?).

DL Jonathan Kongbo, highly heralded JUCO that has produced little since being shifted inside to DT (to fill a spot ravaged by injury instead of being the fourth DE), also reportedly transferring. Not a big shock, not sure he's stayed anywhere very long anyway.

edit to add: Hurd's uncle(?) has released a long, somewhat rambling, bit on social media about broken promises (I-formation) and injuries and seems to confirm that Hurd now intends to be a TE/WR at whatever school he ends up, so as to lengthen his future NFL career.

And from the "well, that's different" files, here's what one of the UT beat writers Tweeted earlier about Kongbo

Patrick Brown on Twitter: "Butch says Jonathan Kongbo hasn't quit. Said he lost a game on FIFA. (No, seriously)."

Yeah. Better strength of schedule. Its pretty obvious who is in from the bottom 3. Washington wins out they are in. UM/OSU winner is in.

All of this is if nothing crazy happens.

Does a 2 loss, 2nd place Texas A&M get in over a 2 loss B1G champion Wisconsin?

Eh, even as a PAC-12 fan I don't have a huge problem with this. Don't schedule Rutgers, Idaho and Portland State and then wonder why you aren't a top 4 team

tarcone, just stop . Wisconsin isn't winning the BIG. They lost to both Michigan and OSU already and aren't going to beat them on neutral ground.

To answer your question though, no, a 2 loss 2nd place team does not make it over a power 5 champion even if *cough* that is a 2 loss Wisconsin team *cough* They haven't yet taken 2 teams from one conference yet and I don't see it happening this year. The outrage over that would be hilarious though.

OOC is one thing, but I don't see how you take an undefeated major-conference team and say -- nope. You can only beat who is in front of you. If they both had one loss I'd take Texas A&M every day of the week and twice on Sunday(though I'd take Louisville first without really thinking about it too long, and Ohio State and Florida would also have a credible argument).

aTm's only real OOC matchup was over a highly overrated UCLA team that is a whopping 3-5 (1-4). Their other two are Prairie View and UTSA. Washington has a blowout win over a bad B1G team and aTm has a close win over a bad Pac-12 team.

Who are we assuming would be the 2nd A&M loss in this scenario, LSU? Because looking at their wins -- crappy UCLA team, Ole Miss/St, SC, Arky, a sinking Tennessee, and then the cupcake platter of Prairie View, NM St, and UTSA. Auburn looks like the only good win there.

edit: yeah, what Crescent said while it took me so long to type

Yeah, a 2-6 Rutgers team with wins over New Mexico and some guy named Howard is totally the same as a 3-5 UCLA team who just lost two close games to a ranked and a nearly ranked team without their top 5 QB

And that's coming from an SC fan

Its a 6 team playoff. Iowa got the same treatment last year. UW wins out they are in the playoff.

Yes, I still am rooting that Wiscy gets in.

A 6 team playoff? What??? 4 teams. No more, no less.

If Wisc wins out and wins the BIG, yes, I agree, they should get in the playoffs as a power 5 conference winner over a hypothetical 2 loss A&M or even a 1 loss A&M or 1 loss Louisville team.
