POLL: There's a penny on the ground
I was walking back to my car last night and saw a penny on the ground and just ignored it. But I know some might pick it up. Now if you saw a $20, I think all of us would pick it up.
So what would the smallest denomination of (U.S.) money that you would definitely claim if you found it on the ground (and have relative confidence that it was unclaimed...meaning, it didn't just fall out of somebody else's hand). |

Find a penny
Pick it up And for the day You'll have good luck It's not about the value at all, just the karma.

I always look around for the nearest child so they can find it and start imagining what they can do with it. Worth far more than the mere denomination.

I will only pick up a coin if its heads up, its a lucky superstition thing. This goes as far as if I drop a quarter and its tails up, it gets left behind.
Guess that means I have to vote Trout and that might be the first time Ive ever done that.

If it takes 3 seconds to pick up a penny, you're earning $ at $12/hr or $24k/year. Not too shabby.

I'll pick up a penny…my kids definitely do, although it can depend on the penny. I mean, if it's in mud or something then I'm probably letting it go.
All the kids collect loose change as they see it and we have an old style bank in the house. Occasionally, we take it to Coinstar and then do something with the money as a family. |

I still pick up pennies. I may not pick them all up, but I still stop and pick up some.

A friend of mine that worked in food service at Six Flags said they used to deep fry quarters and toss them out in front of the store.

Depends on how lazy I am that day?
And Cartman, that was a favorite prank of a couple of my guys. If they had the torch out you can bet a penny or 5 were going to get heated and thrown down... |

I worked at the mall in high school (at a Cinnabon) and my boss would super-glue quarters to the ground outside our place. Pretty funny watching how hard people would try to pick them up.

I don't understand the deep fried quarters thing. What happens to a quarter when you deep fry it?

Oh so it looks normal otherwise, and then people pick them up and burn their fingers? I think I'd assault someone if they did that to me.
