Website hosting options

I figured someone here would have some good ideas, trying to get a good, cheap website set up. Basically, forum services couple of pages, etc. Anyone have any good sources for this?

I use Host Gator. I pay $9 per month and I think there is a cheaper option. Excellent service and support. hostgator.com

I use dreamhost.com for my hosting. Cost is $9 or $10 per month depending on length of commitment and they have one-click installs for WordPress, phpBB, and other software packages. Plus, if you let me refer you, I get a little bit of a kick-back.

Webhostingbuzz.com has fantastic packages for 60 bucks a year (5 a month)

Mine gives me 3 gig storage and what might as well be unlimited bandwidth per month (there is a limit but I've never even come close to it)

They have a cpanel interface along with automated installations for everything from web galleries, blogs, wordpress and site building programs.

I've had 2 issues in the last 6 years of the site being offline and those were about 10 hours in total.

good stuff.

I just go with godaddy.com and get the really cheap package for like $38 a year. Haven't had any problems with them.

I guess I got that during a special, as I look now the cheapest is $4.24 per month if you buy 36 months.

Ok I don't toot the horn of anyone very often but I have to say I'm impressed.

I had my website hacked today.

It was trashed and they stored some fucking .rm file in it for their own use.

I went to webhostingbuzz.com, clicked on live chat support and half an hour later after submitting a trouble ticket they had reverted my site to the most recent backup and everything is working properly again.

Now this gives me reason to wonder about how it got hacked, but a lot of PHP application (joomla and other web content management systems) have issues with security and I'm assuming they exploited something to do this.

However I feel far more confidant that my 60 bucks a year is more than worth it to have such quick response and support.

I'm very happy with how quickly this got handled.
