2009 Breeder's Cup

Not much time to discuss, but here are my quick pasted comments to my friends as we build toward a syndicate Pick 6 ticket.

- - - - -

Here is my brief thinking:

3 SPRINT
Key horse #9 FLEETING SPIRIT (ML 8-1)
Also use: #1 (7-5), #8 (15-1), #3 (9-2)

4 JUVENILE
Big favorite #13 LOOKIN AT LUCKY (8-5)
Big value #6 PULSION (20-1)
#5 (5-2), #4 (8-1), #8 (10-1)

5 TURF
Key #8 ZACINTO (8-1)
Aso #4 (3-1), #11 (8-5), #1 (12-1)

6 DIRT MILE
Big favorite #1 MASTER CRAFTSMAN (6-5)
Also #5 (20-1), #3 (6-1), #10 (20-1)

7 TURF
Favorite #2 CONDUIT (7-5)
Pace favors #6 PRESIOUS PASSION (4-1)
Also #7 (5-2)
This race is bitterly hard to sort out

8 CLASSIC
Key #10 RIP VAN WINKLE (7-2)
Not taking chances with horses unproven on surface, but looking here
#8 EINSTEIN (12-1)
#7 GIO PONTI (12-1)
#2 COLONEL JOHN (12-1)

First draft of a P6 ticket might be

9 1
13 6
8 4 11
1 5
2 6
10 8 7

Exciting finish to the Juvenile Turf. The favorite, Pounced, wins it at the finish.

I had Pounced, but have lost the next four trying for some prices. (Damn. Goldikova is a nice horse.) Going against strong faves in the last three races.

R7 -#9 Chocolate Candy
R8 -#6 Presious Passion
R9 -#7 Gio Ponti

I need to look into betting horses where I can't conceive of any reason for them to contend. That seems to be a hot angle, Goldikova notwithstanding. *shurg*

I kept my money in my pocket for this one. That proved to be a wise decision.

[quote=Honolulu Blue;2163379 Oh, and de do do do, de da da da is all I want to say to you.[/quote]Yeah, Zenyatta is something. She overcame a bad start on the wrong lead and still managed to beat my pick who had a perfect trip. At the top of the stretch I thought that Gio Ponti was the winner @12-1. Smith made a great decision moving Z to the outside instead of forcing her between horses.

Two tough beats as I had Presious Passion also finish 2nd @ 5-1. Oh well. That's horse racing. I know that a lot of people hate the synthetic tracks but I thought we saw some very competitive and exciting races.

Split a $460 pick 3 with my dad and brother and hit that small exacta in the Turf, so lucked into a decent profit for once with the BC (my brother had put the p3 together).

Did not expect that performance by Zenyatta. Really impressive.
