2010 Draft
I swap SF Andrei Kirilenko to the Bucks along with my 1st round pick in 2011for SG Michael Redd and the Bucks 2010 1st rounder (#15). This allows my to get Bradley, who I really wanted if Henry didn't fall. Advantage - Even This according to the pundits, but Redd will need to do better than the 11.6 he averaged last year to make it even with is 18+ mil salary. I am hoping a contract year inspires him. With the Center I targeted (Kentucky's Daniel Orton) gone by the time my 23rd pick rolls around I swap that pick with Portland for their 2011 1st rounder, giving me a 1st round pick again for next season. The rest of the draft
In addition to liking my pickup of Bradley at 15, JP and Chris also approve of my 2nd round pickup of Gani Lawal, who I feel could be a solid bench player for several years and is a good value at #54 overall.

Summer League Roster
Two free agents that intrigue from this group are Tolliver, who I will try and sign if he performs well and Timofey Mosgov who can play PF or C. The rest of the free agents are mainly just filler, though everyone will be evaluated. |

2010 - Free Agent Period
We don't get any big names, but we do get a key player back in Korver who can be a nice weapon from behind the arc. Stack will be a good mentor (hopefully) to Avery Bradley and Big Ben will be in for a one and done, just to give us some toughness and depth inside.

Week 2 - 2010
With Mehmet Okur slowed by a strained hamstring Paul Milsap and Ben Wallace get extended time together up front and I like the chemistry. I have toyed with dumping Okur for a while now and decide to get more aggressive. We find a taker in Cleveland. Trade The Utah Jazz get C Anderson Varejao and PF Leon Powe The Cleveland Cavaliers get C Mehmet Okur and Utah's 2nd round pick in 2012. Advantage - Even We get a bit younger and get a more physical presence off the bench on Varajao who can play some Power forward in addition to backing Wallace up at center and we save some money. Cleveland gets a Center who can stretch the defense a bit and a throw away pick. Helps both teams and saves me a little cash I know have an excess of players and need to get rid of someone, so I decide I will look to upgrade my throw away pick and call Toronto, who are willing to deal. Trade The Utah Jazz get Toronto's 2nd round pick in 2011 The Toronto Raptors get PF Kosta Koufos Advantage - Utah I don't see Koufos having a future in Utah and there is a strong possibility that the Raptors pick will be early in the 2nd round, so I may land a decent player. If it is not the 3rd or 4th pick in the 2nd, consider this even. |

Week 3 - 2010
I like the fact that Milsap will now get on the floor now and Wallace seems to be playing like he is 5 years younger, so I will go with this roster for a while and see how they gel.
Our new Starting 5 is PG - Deron Williams SG - Michael Redd SF - CJ Miles PF - Paul Milsap C - Ben Wallace I wish Sloan would start our #1 pick Avery Bradley over Redd at the 2, but I guess you can't sit 18 mil on the bench. At least redd will be gone after this season.

Week 4 - 2010
The team is showing some signs of life as we win our first back to back games of the year and pull to within a game of .500 at 5-6. Luckily nobody in our division is setting the world on fire, so we are not in an early hole. My new lineup is playing better together, with the emergence of Milsap being particularly pleasing. We are getting no contribution from the SF spot and that looks to be an early target for an upgrade, either through trade or free agency. |

Week 5 - 2010
We now sit a game behind the Nuggets in the Northwest, with the biggest surprise in the west being the Lakers struggles. They are 6-8 and 4.5 games behind the Kings in the Pacific division. Currently Deron Williams ranks 2nd (behind Steve Nash) in the NBA in assists and Kyle Korver is #3 in 3 point FG percentage. (complete standings and leaders and the end of the month) |

Comparing Draft picks
Just a quick early season comparison of our top pick Avery Bradley, compared to the two shooting guards taken in front of him.
Evan Turner #2 overall pick to the Philadelphia 76ers 5 games (4 starts) 15.8 PPG, 2.2 APG, 2.8 RPG 1.6 SPG, 1.6 BPG, 55.4% FG pct. Turner has been out with a broken hand, but he was out to a blazing fast start prior to this and seems to be the cream of the crop as expected. Xavier Henry #9 overall pick to the New York Knicks 13 games (12 starts) 9.7 PPG, 1.9 APG, 1.4 RPG, 0.6 SPG, 0.0 BPG, 47.6 FG pct. Solid enough stats, but ws probably expected to score more, especially as a starter. Avery Bradley #15 overall pick to the Utah Jazz 14 games (1 start) 9.5 PPG, 2.9 APG, 2.1 RPG, 1.4 SPG, 0.1 BPG, 50.5 FG pct. I think our man compare favorably to the other two and in fact better than Henry, espcially as a bench player. I will follow these guys throughout, but right now I think we are getting great value for our pick and he will be a future star. Definitely will start next year (I would hope) as Michael Redd will be gone. I have extended his rookie contract to the maximum 4 years. A big wildcard is if Turner will be affected by that broken hand when he returns. Last edited by BYU 14 : 10-17-2010 at 01:12 PM. |

End of November - 2010
We end the month at 8-8, which is good for 2nd in the Northwest division, but only 8th overall in the conference. |

Eastern Conference Standings - December 1st 2010
The Nets headed by Dwayne Wade and Carlos Boozer are off to an early lead over the aging Celtics, while Mehmet Okur has settled in nicely with King James in Cleveland. No surprises in the Southeast division, where the Magic and Hawks should battle all season. Last edited by BYU 14 : 10-18-2010 at 10:45 PM. |

Western Conference Standings - December 1st 2010
A few surprises in the West as Memphis and Sacramento both find themselves in unfamiliar territory, as do the mighty Lakers. Consistency has been the calling card of the Griz, as all 5 starters average between 12-6 and 17.2 points per game. The youthful Kings, who have just one sarter with over 3 years of experience are off to a great start, but few expect them to maintain their torrid pace. |

NBA Leaders - December 1st 2010
A lot of familiar names on the first months leader board, with one relatively new face in Andrew Bogut, who is not only having a monster defensive year for the Bucks, but also has one of only 2 triple doubles, after he collected 13 points, 20 rebounds and 10 blocks against Dallas on November 16th. |

Jazz Statistics - December 1st 2010
The thing that stands out immediately is our shooting with 6 players at 50% or better. I think I like this lineup as we have an inside presence and can also hit from the outside consistently as Redd is shooting better than last year and #1 pick Bradley is off to a great start. If I look for anything it will be a defensive specialist which we don't have right now. I had hoped Bowen could do it, but at 38 years old I was only kidding myself. |
