Question Ping: Multiplayer FOF 2004 League Players/Commishes

Has anyone else ever experienced a fluke occurence when all of the week's home teams returned their opening kickoff for a TD? We just had this occur in the IHOF.

I haven't seen it NAFL either - but we're not even close to elite. After all, we have JeeberD.

Actually it was 10 games that were simulated after eachother, rather than only the home teams. In 10 consecutive games the home team won the toss, elected to receive and saw their return man run the kick back for the 6-pointer.

And the IHOF does have JeeberD, although only as a oft-used temp owner and a pretty good predictor of game outcomes.

Meh, that's like saying I receive a bunch of abuse from third graders. How bad can it really hurt?

But we did have a weird little blip where all the visiting teams benched their starting QBs midway through the game. Might be noteworthy, since it deals with either the home or visiting team.

Well that was the other odd occurence I was referring to in my 3rd post. They experienced that quite a while ago. Don't recall what the verdict was though.

FYI, there is a confirmed issue that caused this. The issue is with random number seeding, and games using the same initial random seed if they start in the same second, and can cause runs of similar results on the opening kickoff of games (we noticed it when there were high numbers of kickoff returns, but has caused runs of 79 yard kicks for touchbacks and the like).

Solecismic has acknowledged it and will be issuing a patch in the near future. All hail awesome tech support. There's a somewhat detailed explanation on the IHOF boards, buried in the middle of page six on http://www.fof-ihof.com/phpBB2/viewt...=asc&start=100 this thread.

Ignorance would've been bliss on this one. I've got a feeling that a lot of guys will misinterpret what has been going on.

It nearly was. I saw a return in my own game, I saw one in Vince's (we downtrodden have to stick together, you know), and I saw 3ric mention that he had one, so I started checking other game logs, and they started spawning like Tribbles.

Honestly, the reason I think it wasn't noticed sooner is that in this case, it was right there in the box score. If it had been something more mundane like the aforementioned touchbacks, or even something like a fumble on the kickoff, where you'd have to read the play-by-play for each game to see it, it would have - and evidently did - take much longer to come to light.

Oh, I'm glad that it was found as it needs to be fixed. I just thought that it'd be nice if it was found and fixed on the down low. There are enough people getting their panties in a wad over at IHOF.

If "bug" had occurred to me, I would have reported it privately. It shocked me enough that I just felt compelled to share it as a statistical oddity. That it wasn't fixed "on the down low" is my fault. I take full responsibility for that.
