How My Job is Like Being a GM
Envy Me
We've gotten the compiled list of 148 candidates for the RA position. They've been scored, ranked, listed by building preference, and I have to peruse the files trying to find the best candidates. Our draft is next Thursday morning where I will need to draft 1 Office Manager, 4 male RAs and 2 female RAs. The draft list will be compiled shortly and I'll be able to try and find candidates that are good and that I can draft in each position. I am currently creating a master draft board of all candidates and positions. I've spent 3 hours in the past two days poring over candidates and I am only a third of the way through. This is my favorite, borderline-orgasmic, aspect of my job. -Anxiety

Hey Anxiety,
I take it you are an RD then? I'm an RA at my school in a "mini-dorm" which is like a tiny dorm for sophs, jrs and some freshmen. It is my second year and I really like the job a lot.

I'm going to show up at the draft and shout out the names of RAs who haven't been picked, just to annoy everyone.

My job is like a head-coach, I take credit and blame for things that are almost entirely out of my hands.

Im actually a super-RD. RD's usually supervise one residence hall. I am the supervisor of an entire complex with hall directors that report to me. All told, 740 students in singles, upper class, (The Towers complex here at EMU), 3.75 million budget staff of 75. -Anxiety

All those wannabe RAs have obviously never dealt with the likes of me...
I mean, seriously. How can you tell me, "You can't throw anything over the balcony," when my balcony directly overlooks the basketball court? |
