Xbox 360 - GOW and COD 3
Damn... where am I going to get all this $$$$???
GOW is getting excellent reviews - the highest score IGN has given for a 360 to date and most are saying it the BEST looking game next gen, period. I want it!! COD 3 - I love this series and this one is no different, wanting this one to. |

With some reviews saying the solo campaign is roughly 10-15 hours, I don't think I can invest in GOW.

If I play it through.. I'll sell it on ebay.... of course that's if I pick it up today. I've also read that on the "insane" level, it takes 3X as long to complete the game. Last edited by MizzouRah : 11-07-2006 at 12:26 PM. |

I'm not into FPS...however, I might take a look at it later on. Buying a PS3 is going to set me back a little.

I'm pretty sure Gears of War is a third person shooter (but that's kind of a semantic arguement. I've played both and they play pretty much the same way, just with 3rd-person shooter, you can see more)
Anyway, Gears of War looks so good, I'll force myself to learn how to play a FPS (3rd-person...) on a console. |

Just finished COD2. Great game.
Leaning toward COD3 over GOW. But honestly, I'm enjoying RE4 on PS2 right now, so I may hold off for a while. Last edited by Kodos : 11-07-2006 at 01:17 PM. |

I'm getting COD 3 tomorrow, and picking up Gears of War next week. Been looking forward to playing these games. Then the following week is Rainbow Six Vegas and College Hoops 2K7.

Gears of War got one of the highest scores Gamespot has given out in over 2 years with the exception of Oblivion which tied it:
9.6 superb
Difficulty: Hard Learning Curve: About a half hour Tech Info Video Review Find out what makes Gears of War one of the best games of 2006. watch download Gears of War is an outstanding technical achievement, but in addition to looking and sounding amazing, it's a seriously awesome action game. The Good: Stellar graphics reset the bar for what consoles can do visually; great soundtrack and killer sound effects; satisfying gameplay in single-player mode; very addictive online play; best use of a chainsaw in any game, ever. The Bad: Story could have been a bit more fleshed out; difficulty could have used some slight tuning. Full review is here at this link: http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/acti...ar/review.html Sounds good, but I have too many new games now. I'll probably pick this up in a month or two after I've beat some of my other recent purchases. |

No idea when COD3 and GOW are released over here, but already NBA 2K7 has taken all my gaming time, and I'm still only 15 or so hours in to Oblivion. I want to at least finish Oblivion before I go out and grab another game.

Yeah I picked up Splinter Cell couple of weeks ago, but haven't opened it because of NBA 2K7, Madden 2007 and NCAA 2007. It's a bad month for me.

Gears of War is awesome-tacular. I played one level of the co-op and then played versus multiplayer for almost three hours. It's very well done and it's the first third-person shooter that has actually *felt* right as a third-person shooter.
Anyone with a 360 and Live should pick this game up ASAP. |

I pre-ordered COD3 and was told it's going to be in today, but I think I'm going to cancel it. I've been playing my XBOX360 less and less (just like I did with my PS2) and I'm now in "must save all money for Christmas" mode. Plus, this'll give me time to wait for a review.

For some reason, I'm having some struggles adjusting to the controls in GOW. For some reason, when you move forward on the joystick you don't move forward, you actually drift to the right. So, to move in a straight line, I have to angle the joystick to around the 11 o'clock position.
This just me?

The GOW ad at the top of this forum needs to go. Whenever I tab over in Firefox, my mouse goes over that ad and it starts growling at me.

If you have an Xbox or an Xbox 360, you have to get "Sneak King" as soon as you can. If you don't get this game soon after November 19, YOU SUCK.

Me no like NBA - strictly college for basketball and and occasional TPB game or two.
GOW is supposed to be hard as a single player lasting about 10-15 hours on normal difficulty. (I think it lends itself to co-op play better - but I've read people love the single player mode as well) If COD 3 is like 1 & 2 - single player is fantasic, imho. |

It is AWESOME but I think I've died 50 times just in the first board. I love the chainsaw feature. I went on "Live" and did a co-op mission with some kid who yelled @ me for getting my arse kicked to much - sweet

This game is easily one of the most innovative I've ever played. Really glad I picked this up.

Ummm. . . .I've just played about 30 minutes of GOW and all I can say is WOW.
My God, what a game. If this is 10 to 15 hours and I never touch it again, it'll be well worth it. The best cover mechanics I've ever seen. Sweet weapons, great graphics, fun as all get out. Holy crap what a game. |

I don't want a jbmagic "you made em buy that game you stupid jerk" type comment from anyone, but mizzou, I've played both of the COD games and I love the hell out of them. They are terrific first person shooters and I'm sure you can't go wrong with COD3 if you buy it. There is no doubt I'll own the game at some point. But all I can tell you is that GOW blows COD out of the water with what I've seen thus far, and I'm not even into the heart of the game yet. This thing is just sensational. I try not to get overexcited at games, especially early on, but within the first five minutes of this game you realize it's something special. I'll say it again, WOW. |

Looks my 2nd xbox 360 game will be GOW.
My only concern was 15 hours of single play. But the sound of it, it seems like a great game to get. |

Sorry. I'll be playing it well into the night tomorrow night and will be able to give an even better review, but as of now color me impressed. Beyond impressed. I haven't felt this way about a FPS since I played Half Life for the first time. (ok, I know it's a third person shooter, you know what I mean) |

I do know what you mean, and for you to mention it with the "first time" feeling of Half Life... I might have to come up with $60 this weekend.

It's all about the multiplayer. I mean, the single-player/co-op is supposed to be good, but I'm going to hopefully be playing the multiplayer for at least the next year.
For those who don't know, it's pretty much a 4 on 4, tactical strategy 3rd-person action game. But the tactics are so much more involved than any game I've ever played before. You really get rewarded for sticking together and playing as a team, and REALLY get punished for going off on your own to try and win. My favorite way to kill people is to arm a grenade in-hand, do a melee, then the grenade sticks to your opponent and blows them to hell. It's seriously amazing to watch. Feel free to catch me on Live, hopefully playing a lot of the Warzone? mode (each player gets 1 life). Seriously, if you buy only 1 game for the 360, this should be it. |

Is that not the best weapon in a game that you've ever seen? A gun with a bayonette that's a chainsaw. It just doesn't get any better than that. I've had the same problem by the way. |

Just hoping online that people play it properly as a team and not go on their own away from the team when killing.
