2010 NCAA Top Gun Game A DRAFT Thread

Draft Rules

1) Each participant drafts a team of 6 players.
2) Snake draft done on the forum.
3) You score as many points as each of your drafted players scores in the NCAA tournament.
4) One of your players must be from a team seeded 10th or lower.

Draft Order

1. Chief Rum
2. jbergey22
3. sooner333
4. wade moore
5. Eaglesfan27
6. henry296
7. dacman
8. Radii
9. stevew
10. Karlifornia

If you are unable to be around from 10am-6pm Eastern Time then sending in draft lists are highly recommended! For those who pick within a couple spots of me if you'd rather PM lists to someone else and have them pick for you that's fine, but I assure everyone that I am heavily biased when it comes to who I like and don't like and no one's list has ever come close to changing my own picks

Quick question, as I am a top gun newbie. This won't affect this pick, but it could be important for the next one.

I am guessing from a quick scan of the rules, that position is not important. I can pick six point guards if I want, right? And points are all that matters? Thanks.

correct. And 1 player has to be from a team seeded 10 or lower I believe.

Yup, no positional requirements, you can take anyone, with the only restriction being one player from a double digit seed.

Yup, saw that. I'm probably going to wait a little on that one. Certainly not going to use the first over all pick there.

This one was harder than I thought. Too many choices, lol.

I will take Jon Scheyer, Duke.

I really, really, really wanted to take Evan Daniels. But I just don't think OSU gets past Kansas. I would rather take a slightly lesser player on a team I think will reach the championship game, than the guy I would love to have, but only for four games.

Just FYI - planning on going to UNC for the W&M NIT game, so Wednesday I won't be online - I'll get a list to radii.

UNC vs W&M? Awesome. I might actually try to catch that one.

Heh...sorry?

Collins was also high on my list.

I would love to go with a Scotty Reynolds, a Pullen, a Daniels, but if you're guess is they will at most play four games, it makes it hard to pick them. Scheyer was almost by default.

Haha,

You must be talking about Evan Turner not Daniels

For some odd reason Duke has an easier road to the final four than Kansas does IMO. That is why I really like your Scheyer pick.

Yeah, Turner. Don't know where I got Daniels. Obviously, I haven't watched much B10 basketball. It's usually boring.

Oh, and I was thinking about that earlier, where the #2s went, because no way is Ohio State the "worst" #2, which you would expect to match up with the best #1. I think KState is the worst--but you couldn't put KState in the same bracket as KU, especially as a #1 and #2. I could see WVU getting the call over OSU. So that only left OSU vs Nova. I personally think OSU is a better team, but if you make the call that these two teams are right next to each other on the list of eligible teams, it's not really a stretch to suggest that maybe the committee had Nova, from the top top conference, ahead of Ohio State.

Although I guess if you buy that (Nova over OSU), then the committee thinks it seeded Duke "harder" than Kansas. Go figure...

Yeah who knows

I had Ohio State #6 and Georgetown a possible #2. People arent talking about Maryland much but they are very tough as well in splitting the ACC regular season championship with Duke and having one of the best players in college basketball. Michigan State has basically the same team back from last years Final Four team as a 5 seed.

5 solid teams in that bracket I see.

I think this is my first one of this and this may turn out to be a mistake, but...

Evan Turner, OSU

Butter still has another hour before I pick, right? I made a great list of 15 to cover my 2nd round pick and left it on my desk at home.

Just a suggestion perhaps we should give butter the highest available scorers that are available for him to pick otherwise he is going to be screwed if he misses another pick.

The two highest available scorers are on a 13 seed and a 7 seed. That seems like it would hurt more than letting him take lower scorers on the 1/2 seeds or the top scorer on a 4 seed when he shows up.

I'm assuming he'll be around this evening and will pick. If he doesn't show up tonight and ends up on the clock in the 3rd round during the day tomorrow then we'll just drop him. We've had to drop people that didn't show up on occasion in the past, but Butter participates every year, I assume something just came up.
