The Bands You Hate thread
Simple. Make this your one stop shop for all the bands you hate.
I'll start -- Avenged Sevenfold. Fuck them continually being on EA's NHL soundtracks. ENOUGH! |

Smashing Pumpkins (obligatory as a Pavement fan)
95% of rappers and hip hop artists since 1993 The Rolling Stones (every song sounds the same) Modest Mouse Most of the mid-late 90's bands my wife likes Dave fucking Matthews (yodeling bitch) Most punk bands formed after the mid-80s (especially the overrated abortion that is the Misfits) Damn. I could go on and on. Maybe I will when I'm bored at work.

I just want to know what emo is. I'm 33 and out of "the scene", so I'm always wondering if the groups I like are "emo". What makes something a part of that genre?

Nirvana is the one band that sends me into homocidal rages. Overrated, way overrated and the Cobain cultism was obnoxious.
In fact, if Kurt Cobain and Emily Dickinson weren't already dead and they were both in front of me and I could choose one to kill, I'd have a hard time deciding. I mean, I hate Anne Rice with the same passion, but at least she wrote one novel I actually enjoyed.

They aren't bands, but.. Bruce Springsteen and Bob Seger. I would imagine that the elevator in hell would play Muzak of both of them. Fuckers.

Rolling Stones, as correctly mentioned multiple times already.
U2, as correctly mentioned multiple times already. And really anything new in about the last 5 years that was described as "you must listen to this!!!!11!!1111!!" that was pretty shitty- Modest Mouse, Arcade Fire, and a bunch of other shit I can't think of now. Generally, the stuff that, somehow, a handful of people thought was cool, and then everyone became afraid to admit it was crap.

The Beatles and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Let me clarify a bit: I recognize both bands (albeit in very different ways and time periods) were/are influential and have leigons of rabid fans who'd kill for them....but both I just cringe when I hear their music. Just isn't for me. You like what you like. Period. Just keep listening to what you like and don't try to impress it on others. If people are going to like a band that you like, your incessant hyping of them won't help much usually. Just my two cents. Cheers! |
