Ping: Movie Watchers
I needed help with a work related project. I am looking for any movies which involves someone sacrificing for another or a group of persons. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Pay it forward
Movie with Dr. J. Kid goes to a nuclear missle silo on a field trip. Decides Nuclear bombs are bad and quits playing baseball. His story hits the news and all these pro athletes quit playing. His friend gets murdered, so the kid quits talking. Then every kid in the world quits talking. It was made in the late 70s, early 80s. Great flick. |

Not sure what you mean by "sacrifice", but Red Beard by Akira Kurosawa comes to mind. A young and talented doctor is forced to work at a hospital for the poor by his dad. Very, very touching movie, and one of Kurosawa's best.

Suicide bombing saves the day. I thought that was a very interesting post-9/11 ending.

Thanks for the help guys. Have a few movies to watch. Hopefully one of these will inspire the boss man enough to show to the team. Keep them coming if you think of any more. Boss Man is never satisfied.

Wouldn't any war movie fit this category? Every soldier, no matter what side, is sacrificing their own life for the benefit of their fellow countrymen.

Yeah, but you shouldn't have to explain it. His boss probably wants a clip of 5 minutes that shows an obvious and direct sacrifice of one for the good of others. Last edited by mccollins : 08-07-2008 at 02:59 PM. |

Yeah, this scene kicks ass and if any of you know my boss here at Rutgers Football, he digs axes too. I only wish Bull would've died right away, but I can edit it that way I suppose. I also like the end of Man of Fire where he exchanges himself for the girl

I couldn't resist adding an editorial here...that movie absolutely sucked compared to the book. I couldn't stop complaining the whole time I was watching and I'm one that usually gets pissed at people for doing that. The whole premise of the book was changed for the movie. Bad, bad, BAD!
Alright, I'm done now. BAD! |

The original title was I am Legend - but who Robert was (not military, not a scientist), who the "vampires" were, their intelligence level (they were all highly intelligent in the book), the reason he died, all these were different in the book than in the movie, changing the entire story. The reason he was Legend was changed entirely. I decided I would not read another book before a movie because of that frustration (if I know the movie is coming out). LOL

From Wikipedia:
I Am Legend is a 1954 science fiction novel by Richard Matheson about the last man alive in a future Los Angeles, California. The novel was a success and was adapted to film as The Last Man on Earth in 1964, as The Omega Man in 1971, and again in 2007 as I Am Legend.

I think I heard someone say Armageddon. Better answer: Deep Impact. The shuttle crew saves virtually the whole frikkin planet.
