College Football Week 10 Thread

How is there not a thread for this already? Va Tech pummeled Ga Tech; right now NM State has taken a lead over Nevada, which if it holds up puts the Aggies 1 win away from bowl eligibility; on Saturday Indiana could become bowl eligible; and of course Wisconsin is going to beat Ohio State.

Oregon - Arizona St. should be a good game, but the Ducks will prevail.

Because the GT-VT thing was too sad & sorry a spectacle to even comment on.

Meanwhile, Tennessee has dismissed last year's leading rusher (and this year's 2nd leading rusher) Lamarcus Coker from the team for unspecified rule violations, just two days after his third suspension in less than a year was announced. Sources say the dismissal is almost certainly due to his fourth failed drug test in the past year

Meanwhile, not sure if I've mentioned this or not, but my son is with my wife for the weekend to treat him to his first ever visit to Neyland Stadium for homecoming. I opted out, saving both the cost of another ticket and saving me from 4+ hours in a no-smoking (and no passes out) stadium.

I was a little surprised to hear that UT's policy is to now allow 3 drug offenses before dismissing on the 4th...especially since we've had so many problem children in the past few years.

When I heard about this yesterday, I was ready for him to go.

Wisconsin is so beat up right now, healthy I'd be a lot more worried about this game. They've got a good record recently against tOSU but I don't think this is the year they continue that. Tressell has done a real great job keeping this team focused on one thing, winning every week.

GO BUCKEYES!

No need to worry here or any other game until the national title. No one in the Big 10 can play with OSU this year, even if Wisconsin did have Lance Smith they wouldn't be able to keep it within 20.

I've learned not to get this arrogant anymore about footbal. I certainly hope we run away with the game like we have all the others. Wisconsin always seems to find a way to bite us in the ass though so I'l stay conservative on this one and just predict a win =)

I think the KU game this week is more about Nebraska. If they have given up (which they appeared to not have last week at Texas), then KU rolls by 30+ and we get some payback for all those 63-3 scores in the past. If the team that played Texas last week shows up, this should be a close game as Nebraska still has a ton of talent.

Nebraska just gave their remaining opponents something to gameplan for with their defensive playcalling against Texas. Coming into that game, the Huskers blitzed about 18 percent of the time. Against Texas, they blitzed 88% of the time. It just took the Texas coaches until the 4th quarter to figure out they need to run blitz neutralizing plays, and not stick with the gameplan coming into the game based on the 18% blitz expectancy. Once they did that, Nebraska couldn't stop them. Mangino the Hutt is a great offensive coach, so I'm sure he' ll have a great gameplan cooked up for whatever Nebraska throws at them.

Well, KU missed a pair of key tackles on the first drive that let Nebraska score a TD. Then they marched back down the field, 7-7 tie now.

UGA ties Troy 10-10 with a FG to start the 2nd quarter.

My distaste for UGA is well established but damn, Knoshown Moreno is a stud.
First offensive play, 80 yd TD run. 97 yds on 6 carries after 1st quarter.

Ok, now 35-21 KU, 8:30 to go in the first half. This reminds me of that Eagles-Lions game a few weeks ago

It's great to see the crowd mostly blue- I've never seen that before against NU. A couple of years ago, when KU beat NU for the first time in nearly 40 years, it was about 50/50. Usually it was 60 or even 75% red in the 90s, but today it's like 10% red, if that. It's awesome to see.

Also, the KU bookstore TD promotion is almost maxed out already (KU TD's x 5% off KU athletics merchandise on Tuesdays)

Hilarious UMass-Rhode Island game being played in the remnants of a hurricane. 6-4 Rhode Island right now 3rd Q, UMass has 44 yards of total offense. Rhode Island just went for it on 4th and 8 from their own 32 and got stuffed.

I love when KU gets creative and puts either backup QB Kerry Meier or CB Aqib Talib at WR. They almost always do something big when one of those two is in. Talib has 4 TDs at WR this year and Meier has come up with some big catches.

Also nice hole by the O-Line there. They're easily the most underrated part of the team. They've been just blowing people off of plays all year.

UMass goes for it 4th and goal, stopped at the 1 rather than attempt the FG for the lead. Then we stuff Rhode Island for our 3rd safety of the day, tying our own NCAA record. 6-6 13 min to go.

Keep in mind, this is overpriced official bookstore merchandise so 30% off gets you back to normal price (30% is the max, I believe)

49-21 KU, 1:16 to go in the half. Correction, 48-21, as Webb is getting tired and missed the XP, his 7th attempt of the half.

Meanwhile in Knoxville, an ecstatic 9 y/o just called to tell me how great their seats were. And it's without a doubt the happiest I've heard my wife sound (in a public place at least) in a very long time.

If the Vols stink it up today, I may kill Fulmer myself.

UGA now up 24-10 over Troy at the half.

Game swung when Georgia took a 17-10 lead & Troy fumbled the ensuing kickoff, leaving just enough time to give up another TD. Moreno has 149 yds & 1 TD on 14 carries, while Troy's banged up QB Haugabook was 19/28 for 175 yds, 1 TD & 2 INT's before leaving the game.

Nice 1st quarter for Troy, but three turnovers ain't gonna get it done on the road against superior competition.

Wake Forest extends their lead over Virginia to 16-10, early in the 4th quarter.

Also, Florida leads Vandy 35-10, about 10 minutes left in the 3rd. Tebow is 19/22 for 262 yds & 3 TD's but only 2 rushing attempts so far today.

UTEP at Rice is about to start. Once again, this should be a high scoring affair with not much defense being played. Rice only has one win, but they always play us tough.

My whole family is down in Houston for the game, but I'm stuck at home because I only budgeted two road trips this year, and with it looking like the Miners might make a bowl game I traded in this game for said potential bowl.

Virginia scores with 2:16 left, now leads Wake 17-16 and could stay alive in the ACC division race if they hold on.

NCSU now leads Miami 16-13 with 7 minutes left.

Hawaii bowl for UTEP! especially if hawaii has to stay home for it

Wake misses a FG at the gun, UVA holds on to win 17-16.

UGA now 24-13 over Troy, 9 mins left in the 3rd.
Miami in the red zone, less than a minute left, still 16-13 NCSU.

Ummm, I wouldn't be able to afford that trip. So no offense, but I hope it's a game a bit closer to home...
