How I Met Your Mother: Season Three

Why don't we ever discuss this show? I think it is in the top three sitcoms right now (The Office, Scrubs and HIMYM), but I'm sure many people will disagree with me.

Anyway -- last night was fantastic. The Hot/Crazy chart. The deaf brother. Etcetera.

I absolutely love this show, but missed last night...Season 2 was fantastic, and this season has raised the stakes so far in my eyes

It's my favorite show on TV right now. I have seasons 1 and 2 on DVD and record season three as it comes along.

It's awesome. It's legendary. High Five.

This and Weeds are my two favorite shows on TV. I would have never even known about the show if I didn't catch it on a flight last year.

I love this show, but feel that Robin is unimportant to the plot line now. I don't like how the previous episodes of season 3 devoted so much time to her story, trying to make her important somehow. Last nights was great (in part b/c of very little Robin).

I like it as a backup - I TIVO it and watch it when I'm bored. Its not a great show IMO, but an entertaining one - a solid B if it were.

My first tier (must record, must watch):

The Office
Pushing Daisies
Scrubs

My second tier: (will record, might watch)

How I Met Your Mother
Samantha Who (I know, I know - but it amuses me for some reason)
Bones
Reaper
30 Rock
Ugly Betty

I think it is the second best comedy on TV right now, behind The Office. Used to like Scrubs, but we don't watch it anymore. Same for My Name Is Earl.

Last night's episode was the best of season 3. I was getting worried after the first episodes this season few were flops.

Agreed...they might as well write her off at this point. I'd like to at least start to get to see who the mom might be at this point. I don't want this show to drag on like Lost did. The culmination of the show shouldn't be them meeting. It should be meeting and then leading up to the wedding, etc.

IIRC, when Saget is talking to the kids, he refers to her as 'Aunt Robin' - maybe a Robin/barney hookup soon?

Anyway, I'm off to eat a sandwich with blah blah...

My wife and I have watched the show since early in season 1 and just love it. The Hot/Crazy chart was awesome. The deaf brother bit was almost as good as when Wayne Brady played Barney's brother...

They also refer to them as Aunt Lilly and Uncle Marshall though.

Been a fan of this show since it started. Semi-spoiler - some of which already happened this season - I've read that they are going to emphasize more about "the mother" this season, which already started with the yellow umbrella thing. But apparently there'll be more "hints" like that.

Oh, and slapbetcountdown.com is legen... wait for it...

I very much enjoy it. Try not to miss an episode. cbs has some great comedies with this and two and a half men...sometimes I even sit through that horrible "big bang theory"

This show remains my hands-down number 1 favorite comedy. It doesn't have as many laugh out loud moments as Season 1 had, but it is still the best out there...especially for those of us that don't like embarrassment comedy - The Office.

I'm also rather fond of Big Bang Theory, though part of that is because of all of the recognition. I enjoy the looks on my wife's face when I finish the super-geek jokes before the characters do.

In the entire series I would agree...but this season I thought it was the best. I think the show is at its best when the entire cast is together. I also enjoy the flashbacks and the references to previous episodes.

Thirding the love of Big Bang Theory. From what i have read, the ratings are actually higher for Big Band than How I Met Your Mother..which is odd since HIMYM starts first.

I was disappointed The Class didnt come back..i thought it got really good and hit its stride the 2nd half of last season, but i guess everyone had already given up on it.

HIMYM is one of my favorite sitcoms, but i'm not digging season 3 as much as 1&2. Still need to watch monday's episode.

The Hot/Crazy graph kicked ass. That was hilarious. Barney is, by far, the reason this show works.

They already strongly implied it was the woman with the yellow umbrella. I don't think it's a a stretch, or a spoiler, to guess that it is the girl that bumped into him at the bar. As soon as it happened I had that suspicion. I don't read anything about TV shows outside of this board, so I didn't get this from some site. It's just a theory, and I doubt I'm the only one with it. However they said that she was at the bar that night. So guessing that we saw her in a short moment during that episode is not very surprising.

It's that along with the fact that this show could be done at the end of this season. It was almost canceled after last season and last week it finished last in it's time slot. They also mentioned there would be a huge twist at the end of the season. Whether that means the show is done, who knows.

That would be quite sad .

Last night's episode was quite good. Both Sarah Chalke and Brittney Spears were excellent (a great surprise how decent Spears was in her role).

Brittney Spears character was terrible, she is NOT, I repeat not an actress and she was detrimental to the show. As for Sarah Chalke, she was great, and it would be great if she was the mother, but we know that's not going to happen, since it wouldn't make sense in the grand scheme of the show.

Detrimental? Maybe because you were like, ooooh, Britney!! everytime she was on the screen (ie, take you out of the show, not that you yell over her or something). But as an obsessed receptionist, she wasn't bad.

They tried too hard to make her part quirky. There really was no reason to even have the obsessed receptionist in the episode it did not add anything to the episode. Other then it let Barney have sex at the end.

???

Were we watching the same show? The obsessed receptionist was a potential "safe bet" for Ted that he rejected because he wanted the bigger prize, and by trying to snare the bigger prize, he unfortunately made the receptionist more into him (which was hilarious), and then when she saw him the flowers and chased after him was funny as Hell.

The girl can't act. Not even a little bit. Having her on the show - as bad as she is - is a desperation move to draw new fans. It is a shame since I really like the show, but every scene she was in was painful.

I didn't think she was bad at all. I can't stand anything about her and I thought she was fine. That was a win-win for the show and for her. She gets a chance to be semi-normal again and the show can try and cash in with ratings.
