FOF Simming Question

What I'm trying to do is figure out a way to take the 1970 league file and sim it up through 2004 with the real draft files without me controlling any of the teams, then take over a team with the league having real player historical stats.
Any ideas on how to get this done?
I've tried setting up a league as a multi-player league, then leaving all the teams computer run. That works fine for simming through all the past season (it's very interesting how things play out - as a Steeler fan its was great to see the computer draft them Franco Harris and Lynn Swann, but then it made the same mistakes of passing on Dan Marino and taking John Rienstra in the 1st round again
The problem with this is than when I take over a team after simming the past seasons, I go to the free agent screen, when I try to make an offer to a FA it has "no contract" listed on the button.
Am I missing how to do something?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not possible......that I am aware of or have ever heard was even close to being possible.
