Tim McGraw - Hypocritical Sell-Out

Anyone else listen to his single, "Back When"?

You know, where he cries about how they "put pop in my country" (music)

This, from the guy who doesn't write any of his own damned songs, and recently recorded a duet with Nelly.

Ass.

I guess he didn't actually write that line.

To me, his music sounds just as bad as the sounds of 10,000 cats being annally spelunked. I'd rather make sweet love to that fat, greasy guy from 7 than listen to McGraw pollute my eardrums again.

I've thought the same too, ever since I purchased the CD and listened to that song. Now, our local pop station is playing is "Live Like You Were Dying", its like that song won't go away. Its a great song, but its been way overplayed (moreso than every other overplayed song). On top of that, his wife has had a few songs that have done well on Top 40 radio.

You mean Faith Hill? The woman he started schtupping while she was still married to another man.

Yep. Classy couple, those two.

Oh, and I've already had my eardrums surgically repaired twice after the last few times I was forced to listen through that sophomoric, sentimental tripe "It's Your Love" that they collectively crapped out a few years ago.

Shit. Now I'm all pissed off. Why'd I start this damned thread anyway?

I was a pretty big fan of Country music during the early 90's boom, but once I figured out that how Nashville worked I got pretty disilussioned on the whole thing. I have a soft spot in my heart for the Gin Blossoms for making me realize that rock was alive and well.

Toby Keith is another one. I like his music, but now he's going around taking shots at pop music and how he would never "cross over"--ironic since only a few years ago he was the poster boy for "new country". Songs like "How Do You Like Me Now?" seemed ripe for crossover pop airplay (but never made it to Top 40)... and those commercials with ALF and Bradshaw seemed like an attempt for national appeal. Had no effect here in the Northeast--nobody up here knew who the hell he was in those commercials.

Could that be why he's so pissed off at pop (and Northeasterners)?

*Sigh*

I'm beginning to think that my "damn smart" comment about you was wrong. The Horns and country music? Bleh...

Oh well, at least we still have the Astros and Faith Hill (to look at, not to listen to)...
