2005 Pre-Season Week 1: Bye Week 2: Honolulu (0-0) @ Oakland (0-0) Line: Honolulu by 4 Result Code:
Game MVP: HON QB Brian Griese - 25/30, 281 yds, 0 TDs, 0 INTs Result We start off the preseason on a great note. We dominated time of possession which was a huge factor, as Oakland was never able to get anything going. The starters didn't play long but backup QB Brian Griese looked very good in his first game in a Hawaiians uniform. RB Maurice Morris carried the ball 18 times for 64 yards and scored on a TD run that put us on top heading into halftime. He did fumble twice in the game, which lead to Oakland's first FG. K Neil Rackers continued to shine. Despite missing a 44-yd FG in the 2nd quarter, he connected on three others which helped us to pickup the win. The defense was great in this game. We were without our rookie S Tito Viera but still managed to shutdown the Raiders offense. The Raiders gained only 164 total yards and 140 of those were through the air. Offensive Leaders Rushing: RB Maurice Morris - 18 carries, 64 yds, 1 TD Passing: QB Brian Griese- 25/30, 281 yds, 0 TDs, 0 INTs Receiving: WR Anquan Boldin - 7 rec., 86 yds Defensive Leaders LB Raynoch Thompson - 6 tackles, 1 assist, 1 hurry DE Calvin Pace - 1 tackle, 1 assist, 1 block, 1 hurry DE Bert Berry - 1 tackle, 1 sack, 1 hurry DT Rico Stoyanovich - 1 tackle, 1 FF S Ifeanyi Ohalete - 1 assist, 1 INT for 0 yds CB Clarence Pearson - 2 tackles, 1 hurry Injuries WR Anquan Boldin - Sprained Knee (Questionable: 3 Weeks) LB Ronald McKinnon - Compound Leg Fracture (Out: 9 Weeks) Last edited by jshipman2 : 01-06-2005 at 10:05 PM. |

2005 Pre-Season Week 3: New York (A) (0-1) @ Honolulu (1-0) Line: Honolulu by 1 Result Code:
Game MVP: HON RB Maurice Morris - 11 carries, 130 yds, 1 TD Result The team came together again and surprised me with our 2nd consecutive victory. RB Maurice Morris came out strong, scoring on an 81-yd TD run that got the scoring started and gave us momentum that we would never lose. QB Brian Griese looked good again, throwing a TD pass at the beginning of the 2nd quarter to WR Karl "The Truth" Williams. The running game was the real story, as we torched the Jets with 256 yards rushing. Third string RB Grady Hoffman, making a case to be Morris' backup, rushed 16 times for 99 yards after Maurice was pulled from the game. K Neil Rakers is in a bit of a funk. After missing a FG in our first preseason game, he missed two more in this game (including a short 24-yarder). Offensive Leaders Rushing: RB Maurice Morris - 11 carries, 130 yds, 1 TD Passing: QB Brian Griese- 12/17, 109 yds, 1 TD, 0 INTs Receiving: WR Bryant Johnson - 4 rec., 54 yds Defensive Leaders LB Raynoch Thompson - 6 tackles S Ifeanyi Ohalete - 6 tackles DE Bert Berry - 2 tackles, 1 hurry DE Calvin Pace - 1 tackle, 1 assist, 1 sack S Jeff Brady - 1 INT for 0 yds Injuries WR Anquan Boldin - Sprained Knee (Questionable: 3 Weeks) LB Ronald McKinnon - Compound Leg Fracture (Out: 9 Weeks) T Leonard Davis - Dislocated Shoulder (Out: 10 Weeks) Last edited by jshipman2 : 01-06-2005 at 10:05 PM. |

2005 Pre-Season Week 4: Kansas City (2-0) @ Honolulu (2-0) Line: Kansas City by 5 Result Code:
Game MVP: KC QB Trent Green - 15/21, 206 yds, 0 TDs, 0 INTs Result The Chiefs weren't deceived by our 2-0 record as the come to Honolulu and beat us pretty easily. Our defense forced only three punts the entire game and only one in the first half. QB Trent Green had a field day with our secondary, lighting it up with 206 yards passing. The good news is that rookie S Tito Viera has signed and will start our next preseason game and should help the guys in the secondary. Undrafted free agent WR Brady Small has a good game, catching 2 passes for 36 yards and a TD. RB Grady Hoffman carried the ball just twice in the game but gained 20 yards. He has all but secured the backup job to RB Maurice Morris unless RB Marcel Shipp can pull something out of his a$$ in the last preseason game, which is unlikely since he has a sprained ankle. Offensive Leaders Rushing: RB Grady Hoffman - 2 carries, 20 yds Passing: QB Brian Griese- 15/26, 157 yds, 1 TD, 2 INTs Receiving: WR Larry Fitzgerald - 5 rec., 63 yds Defensive Leaders S Ifeanyi Ohalete - 8 tackles, 3 assists LB James Darling - 7 tackles, 2 assists LB Raynoch Thompson - 6 tackles, 6 assists DE Bert Berry - 4 tackles, 1 assist, 1 hurry DT Rico Stoyanovich - 3 tackles, 2 assists, FF, 1 hurry S Adrian Wilson - 1 tackle, 2 assists, 1 INT for 38 yds DE Calvin Pace - 1 hurry Injuries T L.J. Shelton - Sprained Ankle (Probable: 2 Weeks) RB Marcel Shipp - Sprained Ankle (Probable: 2 Weeks) WR Anquan Boldin - Sprained Knee (Questionable: 2 Weeks) LB Ronald McKinnon - Compound Leg Fracture (Out: 8 Weeks) T Leonard Davis - Dislocated Shoulder (Out: 9 Weeks) Last edited by jshipman2 : 01-06-2005 at 10:04 PM. |

2005 Pre-Season Week 5: Honolulu (2-1) @ New England (2-1) Line: New England by 8 Result Code:
Game MVP: NE CB Ty Law - 6 tackles, 1 assist, 2 INTs for 45 yds Result Coming into this game, we knew that it would be a tough job to beat the defending champs. They controlled the game from the start and for most of the game, holding the ball for 35:12 minutes and had an average starting position of their own 41. QB Tom Brady threw a TD pass in a couple series of work and backup QB Kerry Collins would add two more of his own. WR David Givens took the 2nd half kickoff 87-yds for a TD and later caught a TD pass from Collins. We would get a 47-yd FG from K Neil Rackers late in the game but it was too late. QB's Brian Griese and Matt Hasselbeck each threw two interceptions, which didn't help us any. Hasselbeck is now just 20 of 37 passing for 157 yards in five preseason games. He has yet to lead us on a TD drive and has thrown two interceptions. The running game was stagnant once again after looking so promising in our first two preseason games. Offensive Leaders Rushing: RB Maurice Morris - 6 carries, 35 yds Passing: QB Brian Griese- 7/18, 62 yds, 0 TDs, 2 INTs Receiving: WR Larry Fitzgerald - 4 rec., 44 yds Defensive Leaders S Tito Viera - 6 tackles LB Raynoch Thompson - 5 tackles, 1 assist, 1 sack CB Duane Starks - 5 tackles, 1 assist, 1 INT for 17 yds LB Gerald Hayes - 4 tackles, 1 assist, 1 sack DE Bert Berry - 3 tackles, 1 assist, FF, 3 hurries DT Terrell Swanger - 1 tackle, 1 block, 3 hurries DT Darnell Dockett - 4 tackles, 2 assists, 1 hurry CB David Macklin - 2 tackles, 1 assist, 1 hurry Injuries T L.J. Shelton - Sprained Ankle (Probable: 1 Week) RB Marcel Shipp - Sprained Ankle (Probable: 1 Week) WR Anquan Boldin - Sprained Knee (Probable: 1 Week) LB Ronald McKinnon - Compound Leg Fracture (Questionable: 7 Weeks) T Leonard Davis - Dislocated Shoulder (Out: 8 Weeks) Last edited by jshipman2 : 01-06-2005 at 10:04 PM. |

2005 Regular Season Week 1: Honolulu (0-0) @ San Francisco (0-0) Line: Even Result Code:
Game MVP: HON QB Matt Hasselbeck - 16/23, 174 yds, 2 TDs, 0 INTs Result We put together a nice showing in our first game. QB Matt Hasselbeck threw two TD passes and RB Maurice Morris rushed for another as we cruised to a 21-11 victory. San Francisco scored a cheap TD in the final seconds of the game on a 59-yd pass play. The defense played okay but giving up 352 yards to a below average team is a concern. LB Karlos Dansby got to 49ers QB Rashaun Woods twice in the game. LB James Darling was all over the field, recording 8 tackles. Offensive Leaders Rushing: RB Maurice Morris - 20 carries, 75 yds, 1 TD Passing: QB Matt Hasselbeck - 16/23, 174 yds, 2 TDs, 0 INTs Receiving: WR Larry Fitzgerald - 4 rec., 80 yds Defensive Leaders LB James Darling - 8 tackles, 2 assists, FF LB Raynoch Thompson - 6 tackles, 1 assist LB Karlos Dansby - 5 tackles, 1 assist, 2 sacks DE Calvin Pace - 2 tackles, 2 assists, 1 sack DE Bert Berry - 2 tackles, 1 assist, 1 block, 4 hurries DT Rico Stoyanovich - 2 tackles, 1 assist, 1 hurry S Adrian Wilson - 1 tackle, 1 INT for 0 yds DT Terrell Swanger - 1 assist, 1 hurry DT Jake Curtis - 1 hurry Rookie Watch FB Jumbo Kennicott - 3 rec., 22 yds; 1/3 key run blocks G Jay Mays - 0/4 key run blocks CB Clarence Pearson - 3 tackles, 1 assist, 2 caught CB Billy Petit - Inactive S Tito Viera - 5 tackles, 2 assists, 1 defensed, 1 caught S Dan Voigt - 2 tackles, 1 caught Injuries C Alex Stepanovich - Sprained Ankle (Probable: 1 Week) LB Ronald McKinnon - Compound Leg Fracture (Questionable: 6 Weeks) T Leonard Davis - Dislocated Shoulder (Out: 7 Weeks) |

Honolulu Adds Some Pieces To Puzzle
Honolulu (HI) - The Honolulu Hawaiians signed to free agents to one year deals today. WR Dante Hall was signed to a one year, $570,000 contract. Hall will serve as the teams punt and kickoff returner. Also signed was S Gerome Sapp. Sapp was drafted in the 2003 Draft by the Baltimore Ravens. He played much of the 2004 season with the Indianapolis Colts. He appeared in 10 games for the Colts, starting in seven of those. He recorded 10 tackles with 3 assists and had one interception. He figures to develop into a quality backup for the team. |
