Free Audiobook Downloads through local library

I was just exploring the library and reserving some books online and noticed that they now offer some books as a download through a site called NetLibrary. I called my local library and they set me up with a user name and password on the spot...downloading my first book now, hoping to be able to convert it from .wma to .mp3 so I can load it to my iPod, but worst case scenario I'll burn it to disc. Thought it was very cool though...check it out and see if your library offers it (if you like audiobooks)

Neither will work. The audiobooks are typically set to expire after the two weeks are up, and you have to renew it to keep it alive a while longer. If you want to load an audiobook to your iPod, you'd have to check the physical audiobook out from the library.

It says on the site if you want to download to a portable device to open the file you downloaded and get a license...I haven't finished the download yet so I am not exactly sure how it works, but according to the site it's possible.

Let me retry that. You can do it, but the file will still expire. It isn't like something you'd purchase from Audible or a similar site, where it's yours forever. You can take it with you, but after the checkout period, it just goes inert.

Yeah, I knew it would expire, but once you have the file you can renew it with your user name and password as many times as you need. I am not one to re-read books (except for a couple classics) so once I listen to it, it will be deleted anyway.

protected wma's don't play on an ipod. Generally can't convert or burn the file either.
