Question for NCAA06 and Ole Miss fans

I'm currently running a dynasty in NCAA06 with Ole Miss. I'm not really a fan of the team, but I chose them because I wanted one of the lower rated teams in the SEC and I used to sort of root for them when Eli was playing there. (Live in Indy and I'm a Colts fan, so Peyton's brother was reason enough)

Anyway, I'm reading through the Indianapolis Star today and I see the following:

Quote:
The team (Colts) also announced the signings of four free agents: wide receiver Roscoe Crosby, running back Vashon Pearson, offensive tackle David Porter and defensive end Sean Guthrie. Porter and Guthrie played in NFL Europe.

Now, in my Ole Miss dynasty the starting HB is Vashon Pearson. Is this the same guy? Did he end up leaving school early and this didn't get updated in the game? I'm so confused!

He got kicked off of the team for doing something. I figured he would have to wait a year before signing a pro contract.

No, I am not an Ole Miss fan and you should not be one either.

NCAA Declares Vashon Pearson Ineligible
Updated: Wednesday, Jun. 8, 2005 - 9:33 PM

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi running back Vashon Pearson will not play his senior season after being declared ineligible by the NCAA, coach Ed Orgeron said Wednesday.

"He is no longer on the team," Orgeron said in a statement issued by the school.

Pearson led the Rebels in rushing as a junior last season with 807 yards on 158 carries with three touchdowns.

He was listed as a co-starter with Jamal Pittman at the end of spring workouts.

Pearson rushed for 1,441 yards in three seasons with the Rebels.

Didn't know he could just automatically become a NFL free agent.

There are several players in NCAA 06 that have been kicked off their teams IRL.

He didn't automatically become a free agent, he entered the supplemental draft and became a free agent after no team was willing to use a pick on him.

Ole Miss has a rule where only 80 guys on the team can suck, and unfortunately they had 81.

Nice to see Roscoe Crosby latch on with someone. That kid went through some very tough stuff in college. Probably should have gotten help to get through it and not quit sports, but its nice to see him try and get things back in order (His friends died in a car crash on their way to watch him play minor league ball, He got hurt playing ball, Royals killed his contract because he still wanted to play football, then family stuff made him leave school).

I think I read something while searching for the article above that it was due to academics. I couldn't see the Colts signing him if it was a character problem, especially given all of the problems the team has had in that area so far already this year.
