RFL (Rivals Football League) is forming (NCAA Xbox 360 online league)
I've decided to see if we can support a third league at FOFC. My idea is simple. Less voting on rules, more fun. Consider me a benevolent dictator as commish. I'd like to avoid the grousing we've had in the other leagues, so there won't be much if any voting. I will listen to reason, but ultimately I will decide any issues that might come up (See benevolent dictator notice above.) You don't like my choices, go start your own league.
Players can choose any team in any league that they like. EF27 can be USC if he likes. HA can roll with Miami if he chooses. We will play on All American or Heisman, hopefully with minimal sliders. 7 minute games. I don't want to pilfer players from other leagues, so for the first season, if you've decided you need to drop one of the leagues, it's gonna be this one. We will play on with fewer than 12 owners if the need arises. I will not have much tolerance for guys who don't show up to play their games. You will be expected to play your games within the announced timeframe, or your opponent will be allowed to play your team with the AI in control. The first twelve guys on board get first dibs, and from there I'll keep a waiting list. In the offseason, you can switch to any team that has a roster rating that is lower than your current roster's rating. No time restrictions, except that changes must come between seasons. If you want in, do the following: 1. Declare your intent to join in this thread. 2. PM me with your top three teams, in order of preference. Hopefully there will be no conflicts and everyone will get their first choice. In the event of a tie, I will decide the tie-breaking procedure (probably a coin flip), and the loser will get their second-choice team. 3. Every team will be required to play at least 3 human opponents each season. Basically, I want to avoid the voting and arguments, and I want everyone to have a chance to roll with their true favorite team. After all 12 guys have PM'd me their choices, I will make the choices public and announce who got what teams. Let's have fun! |

In as long as we'll be able to play games primarily on weekends. If that is going to be a conflict, I'll bow out.

In, but I'd like to limit to 2 human opponents mininum. If I pick a conference where no one else is, I'd like to avoid having my non-conference games schedule being filled out for me

I was thinking that if you wanted to invite your buddy who you usually play a dynasty with into our league, that'd be cool. Save you from being in three leagues and make the overall time commitment a little lower for you. Last edited by Kodos : 07-05-2008 at 01:07 AM. |

I think we'll have a schedule where you just need to get two games in sometime during a week's time. |

Works for me. I can play occasionally during the week, and likely most of my opponents will be computer which I can get in during the weekend. I'll ask Gary later today if he wants to join this league instead of our 2 person league, but either way it isn't a big deal. He and I were going to just go at our own pace.

I would jump on this one but I will be moving near the end of the month and want to keep my commitments limited. I am also thinking about taking a second job which would cut down on leisure time. I will definitely be following along though.

One thing I was wondering about: we can't change the schedule in the first season, right? I was thinking of simming through season 1, and we could jump in with recruiting in the offseason. Otherwise, we may have guys who don't play any human teams in the first season. I'm guessing this would be an unpopular option, but thought I would float the idea out there and see what happens.

That would be fine with me, although I imagine part of the appeal for people would be to control the current roster while building upon it.

Yep. That's why I figured it might be an unpopular idea.
Have you and your friend decided whether you want to have him in the RFL or a separate league with just the two of you? |

He wants to do a separate league with just me, him, and his brother
I keep trying to get him to actually start posting on here as well, but he has remained a quiet, occasional lurker so far. Edit to add: Part of his reason is that he has to go away for 7-10 days at a time, and he wants a slower pace than the league will be using.

I mulled over this one for a bit...and I decided against joining. I'd love to be in another league with the guys on here, but I think 1 online dynasty (NOFL) and my own personal offline dynasty will be plenty enough for me. Maybe I'll join up later on down the line if there are opennings and I feel like I have enough free time. I wish this one the best of luck for sure. I don't see why you shouldn't be able to use the same subforum as the NOFL and the EBFL.

EF27: That's too bad, but he's always welcome if he changes his mind.
Sun Tzu: From the looks of things, there should be openings at any time that someone should decide to join. I know where you're coming from. I'm thinking that this might just replace my solo dynasty entirely. Who knows if this league (or any online league) will work out. We'll see how things go. Oh, and we'll likely move to the subforum once we've filled out the league (or decided that we have as many people as we're going to get). Figured OT was a better place to attract people initially. Yeah...my initial thought was that this could replace my offline dynasty entirely, but then I remembered back to my dynasty last year and I would play 2, 3, sometimes 4 games back to back. I want to have the freedom to do that...then again if I don't have the free time just in general (I am getting married afterall) I might only have enough time to make this my replacement.

Wait until you have kids... then the free time pretty much evaporates, except for late at night when everyone else in the house is asleep.

Hey there. I'd like to join, big time. I obviously don't post around here much, but I do visit the forums ~daily. I'm in the OSFL with bignej and Eaglesfan27 so, you know, for what that's worth.
Anyhow, really looking forward to this! |

Alright, I decided we had enough guys, so I should unveil who got who. I'm happy to say that everyone got their first choice. I debated about going with PSU or FSU (my 2nd and 3rd favorite college teams), but decided to take my lumps with good old IU. If anyone else still wants to join, they can have their pick of the teams that are still free.

RFL summary thread - Front Office Football Central
We still have one slot open in the RFL if anyone is interested. We plan to start once the server issues with online dynasties have been fixed by EA. We are opting to go with fake names rather than waiting for EA to patch the roster issue. |

When do you expect the season to start? Since I have the game now, I might as well join one of these leagues, and this looks like the best one for me.

Pretty much as soon as EA fixes the server issue. Within the next week, I'd say. Galaxy just snatched up the 12th team. We are having a check-in right now for the owners. If a spot opens up, you'll be next in line. Wait list: 1. Pumpy Two Doors Last edited by Kodos : 07-25-2008 at 02:34 PM. |

No problem. I was really just going to take the spot if nobody else was interested. I would've preferred the wait list anyway.
