Alright Boyz, Here we go!!!!! Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince First Impression

Ok Guys! Now that the whole world has the the once secretive book, what do you guys think? I just bought the book and am now going to read it cover to cover. I'll probably enjoy it since I love fantasy.

Are both the kids and adult versions different to the US ones or just the adult one?

Any idea why this book is already 40% off everywhere?

My local news really was talking about why a book would open at 40% off it's cover price unless there was something seriously wrong. The owner of the Barnes & Noble had "no comment" about it.

Working at a Barnes and Noble for five years I can tell you that "no comment" is pretty much standard policy for any kind of question. Especially one brought up by the media. The book is 40% off simply because of price competition nothing more. Barnes and Noble current bestsellers are 30% off, so the 10% added to this one is just competition with Walmart and the like who always have such low discounts. They would love to offer the book at the regular price, but only the most loyal B&N or desperate customers would buy it from them with so many other cheaper options available.

So nothing at all abnormal about the 40% off-bookstores will still make a ton on money off it with the high demand, and your local news needs to get better educated.

Yeah, you see a book at 40%, that's aggressive pricing.
You see a book at 50% off, that's a dog (Ya-Yas in Bloom, I'm looking at you here).

Just finished it and without spoiling anything, I would like to say that this is the clearest, easiest book in the series to follow since Chamber of Secrets. In fact, CoS is probably the earlier book HBP most closely resembles, for several different reasons. I don't know if Rowling received a new editor, or has simply been able to move from dropping hints in amongst lots of extraneous asides to simply telling the story beginning to end, but this one moves like a rocket. A couple of real doozies in terms of plot twists towards the end, but this is a much quieter book than GoF or OotP - the jacket describes the story as "the homefront" and appears quite accurate, as well as topical. All in all, this one should hold up well over time.

That was actually a misunderstanding, and the pope has no view on the book.

Most books usually open like this and never really sell at their original prices.
