Board Problems Since the Ads Have Started

I have the ad blocker in IE on at work. I can't turn it off. I think it is making the forum unloadable for long stretches of time. Basically, the forum won't load, and sportplanet.com/fof won't load. Eventually, after hours, sportplanet.com/fof will finally load and I will get an ad. My direct link to the forum never works until I go through the ad. Basically, it is making this site such a pain to access, that it makes it not worth trying.

Has anyone else had this problem or have any suggested solutions?

The board has been inaccessible to me for long periods, as well, and I don't use IE's adblocking (nor firefox's adblocking). I have tried with multiple browsers during these times, including Opera, and have not been able to access during these times.

Same as Matt basically (I'm Firefox but the only thing I'm blocking are pop-ups) and I'm getting at least 1-3 hour stretches where the board is inaccessible at least once a day, sometimes twice a day, pretty much all week.

It's weird, though, because when I can finally access the board again, it seems like a lot happened while I was gone. It's as though the board is only letting a certain number of us on at a time.

Agree with everyone about the outages.

However, I found that I could access the board from my desktop (same IP) when I can't access FOFC from my laptop. I think rebooting may make the board accessable as well. I have not tested this rigourously though. The board may have come back right as I switched computers.

Same here. I talked with Ryan earlier this afternoon, and he says he's had no problems whatsoever. I'll be following up further.

There are times when the board is perfectly fine to me, but then it will start the long slow load time of death, and never load. Then when I close my browser and re-open, it works fine once again.

I haven't had any problems, but I haven't been over here as much lately. Perhaps it is the skin some of you are using. I've been using MacOsX since right after the ads were added, and haven't really had any problems. It doesn't have pop-ups/banner ads, so perhaps that is it?

Saving others the trouble:

interstitial
A World-Wide Web page that appears before
the expected content page. Interstitials can be used for
advertising (intermercial, transition ad) or to confirm that
the user is old enough to view the requested page, etc..

So, uh, banners are back. Does this mean the interstitials are gone?

I have trouble when posting. When I click the post button the page freezes. After a while if I pass my mouse pointer over the upper icon bar the page clears and control comes back to the mouse but the page will stay blank. I click on favourites and select the board and then back through the list to the thread and end then my post is there.

It's done this every time for a few days now. It's a real pain. I don't know if it's the adverts - haven't seen any though it may be my firewall that's suppressing them.

Edit: having said that it didn't do it this time.

Edit again: and having included that edit it did it again. Maybe if you use quick reply it's ok and it's only if you use quote and edit that this happens.

Edit again, again: yep it froze again.
