Log-in/Password reset problems?

Anyone else having trouble logging in? I have a laptop at work that I don't use often but am using it today. I tried to log onto my account (this is EF27) and I couldn't get in at all. I reset my password twice and neither of those passwords worked for me either. Anyone else having issues?

I ran into the problem a few weeks ago. It would tell me my password was incorrect and that I had exceeded my max attempts and locked me out on devices I've had the password saved on for years. I'd reset my password and then the next day it would do it again. Annoyed the hell out of me for a week or two and then went away.

Dummy account to say I can't get in at all anymore. I had the login issue for a few weeks, but usually could get in eventually by changing my password - I had to do that every single time. Now, if I change my password, I get the locked out message after entering it the first time.

Edit: I noticed looking at the member list sorted by post count that quite a few posters - 11 on the first page - stopped visiting in the last 2 or 3 months. I know we're declining in posters, but that seemed like a lot. I wonder if the login issue has anything to do with it.

What you describe is exactly what happened to me a few weeks back, same as Atocep. Lasted a week or so I believe. It magically cleared up just an mysteriously as it appeared.

This has been happening to me. When I first reset the password, everything worked on my desktop PC. But whenever I try to use a new device, the new password wouldn't work and immediately locked me out.

I've mentioned this to the OS folks a few times and they've been trying to resolve it. It's unclear when it will be fixed. The issue seems to come and go.

I've had this happen everywhere except my work computer where I am permanently logged in. There have actually been a couple of political threads where I tried logging in from my phone and got locked out and probably saved myself a half hour of aggravation of going back and forth on nonsense anyways. So maybe it isn't all a bad thing?

It had the opposite effect on me though. I'd been consistently logging out for the better part of a year, just to make posting require more effort. After my bout with this glitch, I don't think I've logged out since :/

I'm also locked out of my account just as others have identified. Irritating. I guess I'll just wait it out.

Bumping this so that people having the issue might see it. (I'm getting multiple emails a day about it.)

Very frustrating issue. I'm still unable to use my main account and I could only use my secondary account 1 time before it locked out as well.

Same here. Frustrating that the response from from the message board administrator is that they can't figure out, over weeks, why people can't login to post at the message board.

You'll have to set it to remain logged in. My MacBook and phone are fine that way, but I can't login on my PC or tablet. Reallyakes me question the programming ability of whomever is running the hosting site.

This has been happening off and on for like half a year maybe. I thought it had something to do with maybe chrome and/or ads and scripts.

Normally i click in the login field twice and select my username, then it propagates my name and password in the fields and i hit the login button and it logs me in.

But this broken stuff, when i click in user it pulls down a menu. I select mine. Then even tho it i select it and it tries to put in the password field and i click login it blanks out. It looks like scripts are running from certain ads so aggressively that they interrupt what i'm doing when I'm logging in and kinda cancels the actions I am doing as I kinda do the motion fast. But even when I slow down and do it slowly and then have to select the password from a menu too things can go wrong and spin eternally. This is a theory of course. (it being certain ads and scripts)

And receiving the lockout message even though there's no way I've badloginned 5 times. I don't know what to say about it. But the email i get says it is coming from an IP of 173...etc when i look that up that ip is the fofc site itself that it says I'm logging in from...which seems weird too.

so idunno

FYI, I received this a few minutes ago. Matt requested that I post it here.

Quote:
Steve and I (CO-CEO’s of Operation Sports) have been aware of this issue since it first started occurring and Ben reported it to us. At present we are under-going a major server wide upgrade and experiencing a number of issues relating to dated software (for example the dated vbulletin forum software that powers Operation Sports and these forums) and the limitations relating to incompatibility with modern server operating systems. We are working hard to address these issues. The server upgrade and eventual forum software upgrade is designed to ensure similar issues do not occur in the future. This particular issue is scheduled to be looked at by our most experienced engineer this week. Thank you for your patience, we understand how frustrating this issue is.

I got the "this site may be hacked" message when looking up this site in Google. Probably something to do with this "server wide upgrade".

I now have 4 or 5 accounts that are locked out. No matter what I do, I can't get on with any of them. Just created this new account. I can't get it to stay logged on either. It just automatically logs my new account off after a few minutes. So odd.

I just got kicked out half an hour ago, and told incorrect password & tried too many times, etc (neither was the case) and account locked for 15 minutes

Was just able to log back in without incident though.

Had the same issue about an hour ago. My laptop was logged off and wouldn't let me back in. Tried with my password and it said the account was locked because of too many failed attempts. Just able to log back on a minute or so ago.

About a week ago, I had a three paragraph post all typed out in the Trump thread that would have united us all, ushered in an era of acceptance and appreciation for both sides and all arguments. But I was locked out. And I was high, so I forget it now.
