A Game Request
I have a request for any future game. Please make it available to import your seasons from previous versions. I hate having to start from scratch when a new version comes out. I don't know how hard it would be to do, but if it is possible, please try to implement it. Thank you in advance.

If memory serves, I believe Jim said that the reason why this hasn't been possible in the past is because the database structure he uses has changed substantially from one version to the next.

Aye. Making your new release backwards compatible is usually a bad thing, because it really can put a limit on things for you.

You 'can' do it - however you have to approximate any new statistics/attributes which players might have in the new version which can lead to an unrealistic feel in game (ie. your star player might suddenly be naff etc.). Add to this (with SI products) the fact that you might be half-way through a season in a league which irl has now got half the clubs in that it used to have (because we update the leagues etc. according to real-life changes) and suddenly you can hopefully see why this would be a very challenging thing for us to implement across 50 odd nations league and cup competitions ... |
