Kind of a shame on what the BCS has done to New Year's Day IMO. From 3 matchups of top 10 teams, to two matchups of top 10 teams, down to 0.

I am sure a lot of people are burned out on college football by January 8th because of all the watered down games they call bowl games starting around mid December. You can certainly tell a movie producer didnt create the bowl season to create max interest the sport around the time they want it. Imagine going to a movie and have nothing meaningful happen for the first 90 minutes and expect to be really into the climax.

The Bowls are also all on ESPN, not very many on network, so I can't see them. That drops my interest markedly.

I would tend to agree, but I am pretty sure the ratings of the top ten games are higher a week after new years than they were on Jan 1. It's a bummer, but the networks follow the money.

The new postseason format will create two national semifinals to be played New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day, with the winners advancing. The six bowls in the playoff rotation will host marquee, BCS-type games on New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day during the seasons they do not host a semifinal.

Sounds like they're concentrating them back to the 2 days actually

I hate the BCS, but blame Ohio State for being on probation, old-fashion convoluted conference alliances and the Big 10/ACC sucking out loud. Once upon a time the champions of the Big 10/ACC would have been top 10 teams. The highest-ranked Pac 12 team went to the Fiesta Bowl instead of the grandaddy of them all (just as would have happened in the past). Personally I like seeing an underdog like Northern Illinois play a big boy.

Bring on a playoff.
