TCY/FOF 2007: The Interactive Recruit Fantasy Draft
That is a working title, will come up with a better one later.
This will be a fantasy draft of Recruits from TCY which will follow them through to their FOF 2007 careers. It will work similar to fantasy football. Those who participate will draft up their teams and then I will begin running the seasons. I will post updated standings with each week that passes. I will add more details later tonight but wanted to get the first few posts reserved for more details and to see who wouuld be interested.

Rules
Draft The recruit draft will be held in thread. The draft order will be randomly selected and will be serpentine. After the 8th round the order will be randomly selected again and the remainder of the draft will use that order (though serpentine which will reverse every round). "Teams" will consist of the required positions listed below. Draft picks may be a specific player (listed by position in the top recruits section) or you may roll the dice and select a player that is not on the top recruits list. That selection may be made in the following manners: "The highest available (position)." or a more specific "The highest available (position) from (state)." Game Setup For TCY the Solecismic 8 is in New Jersey. I am the coach of Atlantic City but everything is automated. The playoff system is used. For FOF 2007 I started with a fictional league. I run the Eagles, but everything is set to be automated (I only wish the real Eagles had that kind of success). Yes, entirely fictional universe. It will start with the 2026 season for recruiting. I have already started putting together a list of the recruits (Names, where the are from, size, ranking, biggest strength, biggest weakness and test score). |

Nope, don't need to own a copy. Will be a draft in thread and then I'll sim through until the last one retires with updates along the way. The interactive part is pretty much over once the draft is complete, from there it is sit back and watch them develop (hopefully). (watch, not one gets drafted and it's over after they finish college) |

The recruit list has been finished and linked.
The list includes the top 10 per position (per number or players drafted per team; ie: 1 QB per team so 10 recuits listed, 2 RB per team so top 20 RB's listed). |

I'd be out of my league with participating in the draft but I'll watch. Maybe if it were "Pick 5 and hope to get lucky" but a whole draft requires actual FOF/TCY skill and knowledge

It really doesn't take any FOF/TCY knowledge to be honest. Pretty much a random chance that the recruits you pick end up turning into something. Chances are that a few of them should end up playing pro (not always easy to see TCY success for a player turn into pro success). Since we'll be looking at the top recruits from their positions most should have a decent shot a having a good college career (though injuries and some flops will happen). |

As a somewhat humorous scoring bonus...I'm pushing for a 3-5 point bonus if one of your guys is Mr Irrelevant.

SAT's basically. Under 1000 may indicate a potential acedemic issue down the line for a player. The lower you go their is a chance that the player may not even get into college (well, maybe Miami if it were real life ). |

so so we don't really have any football related basis for picking other than strengths and weaknesses? or am i missing something.
(edit) I just saw the "rank" column....does the system think they are better in rank order? Last edited by CrimsonFox : 01-22-2012 at 06:32 PM. |

And we're ONLY picking people from your spreadsheet right?
SOrry for all the questions. But this is different than I'm used to. WIth the first pick I don't wanna mess it up and have something pointed out to me later. |

No worries.
It's pretty much a crapshoot to be honest. These are the top 10 (or 20) rated recruits from each set of positions. The rank is their overall recruit rank nationally (the number 1 recruit is the top recruit regardless of position). I was going to post the "high school stats" but they are pretty random and meaningless to be honest (and would take a while to put together for no real gain). |

Also, You can pick from off the spreadsheet but that is a total gamble. In the post where I mention the draft rules I mention how you can pick someone that is not on the spreadsheet.

Just a couple questions. You say we get 1 quarterback a piece, but there seem to be 20 listed on the spreadsheet, why is that? Just curious.
Also, as far as making our picks, do we have a certain amount of time once we are on the clock? Reason I ask is because I will not be here most of the night. I usually try to check in on these boards a few times a day, but I just don't want to keep everybody waiting if its my turn to pick and I don't happen to get back on tonight, or tomorrow or whatever. |

now i'm more confused. there are people in the draft that are not on the draft list? And so this isn't a team then that we're managing? We're just getting points for their progress wherever they are? (if they are anywhere) |

QB's were the first group I put together. Then I realized that it really made no sense to go with that many since it's pretty much a crap shoot so I cut it back to 10 per number on a team for each position set. No worries about the time. No time deadline. |

CW's Summary of How This Works As I Understand It.
We are drafting a team. We are done after that. EF sims seasons, we watch our guys rack up points, or in my guess, fail miserably. Runs until EF gets bored, or all our guys are out of the league. Draft: You may either pick a guy on the list, or say 'best available (position)'. That's it. Rinse, repeat. |
