Firefox 3.5

Released just a bit ago.

Mozilla | Firefox web browser & Thunderbird email client

Let me know if it is noticeably faster like it claims if you have installed it already. Running in Ubuntu now, so unless it is the bee's knees I won't upgrade right away just to avoid any Linux newb problems.

yeah, it's significantly faster to me at least, I like the drag and drop or tear off permissions

I've been running this pre-release for months now and haven't had any problems. Can't really say if it is faster since I don't remember what it was like previously.

I'd love to try it out, but I always wish I hadn't since I use so many extensions that most likely won't work under it. Better to wait for those to get upgraded.

Much faster. I started using Google Chrome because of the speed (or lack of it) problems I was having with Firefox. But the new version is definitely quick enough to move back.

Same here... seems to be as fast, if not faster than Chrome.

That actually annoys me to no end. The past few months I constantly am accidently tearing off tabs to create new windows when I don't want to.

i'm sure you can disable it, if not in options in the config file

Possibly. I did look for it but never did find anyway to disable it. So I just lived with it. It did take me about 2 months to figure out that I could reattach the tab back to my previous browser if I did a few steps first at least.

Of course I am not really a huge fan of firefox or all of the bloatware extentions people load into it either. I use it only for noscript and if any other browser took security more seriously, I would think about using them.

I am trying to get it to install the "normal ways" in Ubuntu, but it just keeps installing the last beta version. I am sure there is not much difference, but I don't like having the code name Shiretoko all over everyhting.

Anyone having an issue when you close Firefox and then open it back up, all your cookies are gone? I have to type my username and password to get into my normal sites?

For some reason, when I upgraded to 3.5 it sent my favorites into the Wayback Machine. Kind of a bummer as I had a few links that I didn't visit frequently but wanted to have there when I needed them.

Not sure it's specific to 3.5 since it happened to me with the previous version, something about your cookies being corrupted.

Thank you! I'll try those suggestions.. funny, I just closed out and then came back and they are staying for now. I'll try rebooting my pc to see if that's when they erase.
