Trying to figure out the game

A few years back there was a space game in which you not only configured your ships in the game, but you could use an editor to actually make the in game ship. There were "hard points" for different components, structure, lights, etc. does anyone remember the name of it?

You may also be thinking of Gratuitous Space Battles. If it was a full-on conquer the galaxy 4x, it's likely Gal Civ. But if it was just "design ships, then put together a fleet of them using a point system, then let them go fight the enemy while you watch", it was Gratuitous Space Battles.
