First Song You Slow-Danced To With A Member Of The Opposite Sex?

For me it was Boyz II Men "It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday".

6th grade after-school social. I was totally flipped for this girl named Rachel. Long blonde hair, large blue eyes, and tall. It took me 5 glasses of punch to work up the courage to ask her to dance and my friends were all like "Just go do it! Do it or we'll ask her for you!" I kept coming up with excuses, and finally the DJ (the guidance counselor) announced the last song of the night and it was that song.

So with that fifth punch drained, I took a deep breath, praying I wouldn't sweat into a puddle before I got there, walked up to and asked her, "Um, I was wondering... do you wanna dance?" She said yes and so we danced. I felt like a god in that moment, because she was the prettiest girl in the whole school.

I remember running to my locker afterwards jumping and dancing like a complete idiot.

Of course, what happened afterwards lives in infamy. But enough about me. What about y'all?

If I did the asking, I might remember. But since I was the one who was asked, I don't. The story goes she aksed me to dance, I said no. About a half hour later, she asked again and I was bored enough by then to say yes. For the next few months, we were "5th grade bf-gf", which meant we danced at dances a lot and nothing else.

Simpler times.

I was/am a very good rollerskater, and that was my way of getting out when I was a kid no matter where I was (which was a lot of places).

I still remember that her name was Angel, and we gave each other notes for a few weeks before we actually skated with each other during the couples thing. I finally got her number after that and called her once (no idea what I said), but she disappeared, and moved to Lansing.

The song was "Take on Me". It's not really a "slow dance", but it was a staple for kids in 1985 or so!!! Oh, and it's the greatest video ever!!!

Hell, I'm almost certain I made out with a chick before I slow danced with one.

There were no dances in my elementary school and I know there was a dance at the end of 8th grade before high school, but I didn't go.

You know, the odd title of this thread begs the question - will there be "First Song You Slow-Danced To With a Member of the Same Sex" thread, too?

It's like MBBF's "male gigolo" thread.

Waiting for the "First Song you ever smashed to" thread...

I've never slow-danced with a human, and the dog was a male. The song was "Too Shy" by Kajagoogoo.

Might as well answer, since I actually remember. It was Madonna's "Crazy For You" at a 12 hour church dance-a-thon. I don't know who the girl was, because I never had the guts to ask her name or phone number, but we danced three or four times over a couple hours.

It's actually pretty depressing looking back in hindsight - I dated very little in high school, but subsequent conversations have made me realize I could have essentially dated anyone I liked had I just had the guts to ask them. Hell, I haven't thought about that dance in twenty or twenty-five years, but I remember that girl seeking me out to dance several times over the course of a couple hours, and it just now hit me that I probably could have gotten her number.

8th grade, late '70s: Lynyrd Skynyrd, "Freebird." Bizarre, I know.

It did not end well--many people were injured during the extended, uptempo triple guitar solo

But in Izulde's defense, it's probably not difficult to remember the one and only time.

Wow, bringing back memories....

The song would be "Open Arms" by Journey. The girl's name was Candy.

I'm thinking it might have been "Heaven" by Warrant in 7th grade.

I Can Love You Like That - but not the John Michael Montgomery version - the All 4 One version.

First song I 'dirty danced' to? Twisted - Keith Sweat.
