Werewolf XXXIII: Animal Farm (SEE POST #4 FOR ALL UPDATES)
It will be a tough act to follow the insanity of Tanglewood's game, but this game is much more basic -- think of it as a palate cleanser of sorts. All roles will be public and posted at the beginning. I hope it will be an enjoyable game for both veterans and newer players alike.
I am looking to start on Monday the 11th with roles going out Sunday evening the 10th if we can get enough people signed up. (I'm hoping for at least 15). Day lynches will be 9PM Eastern and the night will run through 9AM Eastern. Advance night orders will always be accepted and may be conditional. Signup list: 1. Anxiety 2. Greyroofoo 3. Swaggs 4. Chubby 5. Alan T 6. BrianD 7. RealDeal 8. GoldenEagle 9. Blade6119 10. ardent enthusiast 11. Dodgerchick 12. saldana 13. st. cronin 14. hoopsguy 15. Grammaticus 16. Passacaglia 17. Conflaguration 18. Lathum 19. Bek 20. bulletsponge

Much has happened since Old Major, the prize-winning pig of Manor Farm called all the animals to a meeting to tell them of his dream. A dream where all animals live together with no human beings to oppress or control them. He tells them that they must work together to create such a paradise, and teaches them a song, "Beasts of England" which lyrically describes his vision. Sadly, Old Major died just three nights after this meeting, however a group of younger pigs, filled with grief for their loss but enthusiastic to make Major's dream come true, formulate his main principles into a philosophy called Animalism. The main tenets of Animalism are:
1. Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy. 2. Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend. 3. No animal shall wear clothes. 4. No animal shall sleep in a bed. 5. No animal shall drink alcohol. 6. No animal shall kill any other animal. 7. All animals are equal. Soon, the united animals spot their chance and manage to defeat Mr. Jones the farmer and drive him off the land. They renamed Manor Farm "Animal Farm" and dedicated themselves to achieving Major's dream. At first, the farm was a great success -- animals were taught to read, and were educated in the principles of Animalism. When Mr. Jones sought to retake his farm in what became known as the Battle of the Cowshed, the animals managed to defeat him again, and take his abandoned gun as a token of victory. However, things have taken a turn for the worse lately. There are disagreements, schemes, sabotage. Are there revolutionaries amongst you? Rumors abound that they are ready to strike. Everyone is nervous -- can you root out the evil before Utopia is ruined? The following roles are the only ones that will appear in the game. Any of these roles may or may not actually be in the game. Good: Snowball the Pig: Can view one other player at night via PM. Result of view will be evil/not evil. Has no PM privledges. Boxer the Horse: Can protect one other player (or self) per night. Cannot protect the same person two nights in a row. If Boxer or the player they are guarding is attacked, there is a 25% chance the attack will kill Boxer. There is also a 50% chance he will be able to identify the attacker. Has no PM privledges. Clover the Horse: Can view one lynch victim per night via PM. Will learn full role of player chosen. If this player dies, there is a 75% chance that Moses will learn his findings. One time per game can choose one other player to PM (submit name to GM at night) -- they will have PM privledges for that day only. Moses the Raven: Can view one night kill victim per night via PM. Will learn full role of player chosen. If this player dies, there is a 75% chance that Clover will learn his findings. One time per game can choose one other player to PM (submit name to GM at night) -- they will have PM privledges for that day only. Benjamin the Donkey: Can switch the lynch target to any player of his choice one time during the game. Barnyard Animals: Pigs, sheep, hens, horses, donkeys -- the villagers of the farm with no special powers. Evil: Revolutionary (Napoleon or one of his attack dogs) -- you are hungry for control and will stop at nothing to become the leader of the farm. Once per night you may attempt to kill a player (revolutionaries must agree on the target and send one name only). Has full PM privledges with other revolutionaries. Knows the identity of the Sympathizer. Wins when there is a 1-1 ratio between good and evil (defined as revolutionaries and Pilkington). Squealer the Propagandist -- Can view one player per night via PM. Result of view is seer/not seer only. Squealer counts as a villager in the overall ratio but will scan as (and win with) evil. Has no PM privledges. Mr. Pilkington -- You own Pinchfield, a neighboring farm, but that isn't enough -- you want Animal Farm also. You are aware of the plot but decide to take matters into your own hands. Starting night 2 can attempt a night kill every three nights (N2, N5, N8). You will be exposed and your attempt will fail if bodyguard is protecting target or if bodyguard is the target. 1st attempt has a 90% chance of success, 2nd and 3rd attempts 50%. Knows the identity of one revolutionary. Has no PM privledges. You get a minor victory for surviving the game, major victory if you survive and the revolutionaries are successful. Special: Minimus the Sympathizer -- You start the game as a villager, have no special powers whatsoever and are not aware of your role. Once a revolutionary is killed (whether by lynch or by Mr. Pilkington) you realize that you are committed to the cause and will become a revolutionary with the full description and powers of that role. If scanned before conversion you will be seen as a villager, if scanned after conversion you will be seen as evil/revolutionary. Tiebreak procedure: A player will be chosen at random to have the tiebreak power one time only. Once used, a new player will be chosen at random. Please do not reveal when you have the tiebreak upon pain of a sudden lightning bolt striking you down and out of the game. There is no role reveal upon death. These rules and roles are subject to revision over the next day or two but will be finalized by the time roles are assigned. If something isn't clear feel free to ask. Last rule: Have fun!

By basic I mean that the roles will be pretty standard and spelled out up front, so there won't be hidden roles. There will be a twist or two, of course, the main one being that there are no role reveals upon death, however there will be roles that can get that information.

I think there was a double count, and this actual is XXXIII. But not sure about that.
Unfortunately, I will have to bow out of this one. I go to Vegas the weekend of Sept. 15-17, and as a result, I work at my second job a lot during the week before. So that means I would be even less available than usual. I will be following along with interest, though, and hope to get back in for the next one.

Ah, what the heck, pencil me in if you have a slot. I can guarantee I can't play like I used to out here though...since I have weird hours compared to back home.

Well, we're getting to a good number here. I want to get your thoughts about starting a little early -- I could get roles out tonight and we could have a long day 1 over the weekend with a deadline at 9PM Eastern on Sunday, or we can just start Monday morning depending on what y'all think.....

I'm not sure that getting a long day at the beginning will be overly helpful. Nobody knows what is going on at the start, so things are pretty random. Would there be a benefit to starting early?

I enjoy starting early.. usually day 2 is the most active day, and a day 2 over a weekend can sometimes be alot of fun. Dunno if day 1 over the weekend will be as good.. but I'm all for starting early

I think I'll sit this one out. GM'ing the previous game was hard work and I don't want to get WW burnout. Looks like you'll have a good turnout and a great game though.

OK, we'll do this: I will send roles out either late tonight or early tomorrow and posting can begin as soon as that is completed. We will leave the deadline at 9PM Eastern on Monday though, unless all votes are in and there is a majority that is ready to move forward.
Being my first GM game, I was just eager to get going!
