It being at home gives them hope. Michigan plays Indiana as Michigan has to essentially win the next three to be bowl eligible.

Not sure what is going on with the betting line for Texas v. Texas Tech. The Longhorns right now are a 24.5 dog.

No shit. It clearly will play out when you look at these team's schedules but everyone will worry just like they did when the first BCS rankings used to come out and looked nothing like the end of the year. |

Yep, and Tech might be breaking in a new QB as well. Vegas must know something.

Can my boys take down Oregon for third consecutive year? I'm not putting money on it, but it seems every time I pick Stanford to lose, they win, and vice versa.

It was. With Sudfeld healthy, we would have a good chance against Michigan. But since we're now starting a true freshman who was our 5th QB in the spring, we're completely fucked, thanks to a separated shoulder, two transfers, and a torn ACL.

Nah, it's Texas -3.5. They grabbed the 24.5 line from VegasInsider which is just an aggregator of lines from other sportsbooks and sometimes makes mistakes (usually when a line is not available right away). No sportsbook had that line available to anyone. |

Let's say a Rolling Stone article is getting passed around a lot on Facebook right now. Of course, let's ignore the SEC having the best OOC record among Power 5 conferences.

It looks like an offshore site called Betonline.AG put up the 24.5 line initially and left it there for 19 minutes before realizing the mistake. My working theory is they somehow got it crossed with the Texas Tech-TCU closing line from last week, which was 24 or 24.5 depending on where you looked. Edit: I'll rephrase to say that it looks like a line on Betonline.AG was reported at 24.5. I don't know if you or anyone could have actually gotten that from that site. Potential SEC playoff combinations (can't imaging a 2 loss team makes the playoffs):
Alabama wins out: Alabama and MSU/Ole Miss winner has 1 loss. Auburn wins out: Auburn and maybe MSU has 1 loss. UGA wins out: maybe MSU has 1 loss. Mississippi State wins out: maybe Auburn has 1 loss. Ole Miss wins out: Maybe Alabama has 1 loss if they beat MSU Maybe MSU has 1 loss if they beat Bama. If I've missed a scenario, let me know. |

Coastal Carolina easily took care of Charleston Southern, winning by 21 points. As a result they move up to #2 (#3 in the other) in the polls, which is the highest achieved by any Coastal team in history. This week they take on Gardner Webb, who just lost to Liberty 35-0 last week. So not expecting much of a struggle for this game, but could be a "trap" game for them, so have to make sure they don't overlook them.

No they have not, they play a non-conference game next week at Charlote (who should be in the Big South with as many teams from that conference they played this season), then finish up at home against Monmouth and Liberty. Liberty is likely the only team left that can seriously threaten their unbeaten status. |

They should change their name to LOLisville after that last touchdown. Should have been double pass interference on Louisville.

I don't understand:
1) The announcer saying it was "key" that the clock was stopped on the 2nd down incompletion. 2) The run on 3rd and 13. If Louisville goes three and out, FSU is getting the ball back at close to midfield with plenty of time left no matter what. The clock was not a factor there. Getting a first down should've been the only consideration in that sequence.

In the unlikely event FSU does get knocked off once (@ Miami?), and ND wins out, that'd be an interesting debate. I think you need to give FSU the nod based on the head to head W, but it was at FSU and ND will probably have a stronger résumé at that point. It could be payback for 1993!

ND isn't getting in over FSU. They just aren't. If nothing else, the committee isn't going to have an undefeated defending national champ sitting out of the playoffs and good luck with two ACC teams getting in.

If ND wins out and FSU has a loss to say BC or Miami late in the season many of the talking heads on ESPN have said ND would and should get in as they totally outplayed FSU on the field at FSU. Last edited by Galaril : 10-30-2014 at 11:06 PM. |

Of course an undefeated FSU is in, and of course 2 losses from FSU means no ACC team. But even with one FSU loss they'll still be the ACC champ and an interesting bubble team. Ironically ND winning out could give FSU the marquee win they're otherwise missing... Or it *could* cost them their spot depending on how the committee values head to head wins vs. SoS and "eye test". And of course it's all hypothetical now, just like that potential 5-way SEC West tie at 6-2.

Not that I really want to go there, but independent of this statement there have been a couple of times to call bullshit on this this season to actually see the bias at work: 1. Preseason top 10 South Carolina gets whipped by Texas A&M, A&M shoots way up the rankings after the win... turns out that SCAR is actually not very good DESPITE the win over Georgia, and now TAMU is overly inflated for their win... Then when the Mississippi teams beat TAMU handily, THEY now get a giant prestige boost for beating what is actually a pretty mediocre TAMU. 2. Alabama barely beats Arkansas in a game they should've lost, but actually gain ground in both polls that week, points-wise. Ohio State barely beats Penn State in a game they could've lost quite easily, and actually drops a spot in the Coaches Poll. At the end of the day, I'm not too up in arms about this because all of those teams are going to play each other and we will likely not end up with 3 SEC teams in the top 4. But I'm not going to put it past these people either to put the 2nd place SEC West in the playoff like they did with Alabama-LSU a couple of years ago.

Of course you don't want to go there considering the ocean wide difference between the two conferences in terms of OOC records. Oh, and maybe, just maybe when OSU struggles to beat PSU in 2 OTs that home lose against VT starts to loom back in the mind of voters versus where 'Bama's only loss was to an undefeated team on the road and has a neutral site win against a 6-2 team. Quote:
Because maybe they were the two best teams in the country?

If I'm home and Michigan is on, I'm watching. I have zero issue talking about Michigan when people bring them up and living in Spartan country that's a lot. Has anybody here posted more about Michigan football than me this year? I can't stand the coach for a list of reasons and that's it. Forgive me if that makes me a "lesser" fan.

That team Bama lost to is no longer undefeated. But if Bama is one of the four best teams in the country, they'll win out and make their own case so I'm sure you have nothing to worry about.
