XP Question
I have XP setup with three accounts, my wife's, mine, and the admin account.
My problem is that when I run a game under my account, the account is prevented from saving a game or modifying any file in the main folder. I did not have this problem on my old machine where I had the same XP setup. What am I missing? I have checked the folder type and read-only is not checked, but is blocked out. I have toggled this on the admin account, but it always reverts back to the block. Any ideas? |

And here's where I point out that the "can't write to Program Files" is NOT a Vista thing and has been there for years with XP, as you are finding out when trying to use multiple accounts on XP.
Anyway, make sure you are a member of the Administrator group to run games (or certain FOF Utility Suites written by someone who knows better) that do the no-no of writing to the Progam Files directory. Frankly, on XP you might as well be an Administrator since no one paid any attention to Limited User accounts and it's just too much of a hassle not to be.

Go to start, click on your pic next to your name at the top. Click HOME, and then make sure you are an admin.
