Thumbs down If It Wasn't For Bad Luck, I Wouldn't Have Any Luck At All

I was on my way to school this morning when I rear ended someone. Several (3-4) cars had pulled into the lane that I was in causing everyone to hit their brakes. My brakes locked up on me and I ended up hitting the person in front of me.

I was brought by ambulance to the hosptial because of my surgically repaired neck was hurting. It turned out to be a pulled muscle, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

My car is total, so I guess I'll be in the market for another vehicle. At least it was a "throw away" one. I bought it for $300 about two years ago, but it was a smooth running.

What a way to begin one of the tumultuous week of my life.

Around your price range, great gas mileage and you dont have to worry about 'totaling' this one.

May I recommend....

Son of a bitch!!!

I bought a car from one of my brother's buddies in January. I got sold on the fact the guy took it on long trips, had good gas mileage, yadda yadda. Just 10 weeks laters, the engine is ruined. Even though I checked the oil regularly, the damn thing threw a rod.

And the hits just keep on comin'....

Put a motor in the car that threw a rod and the fucking thing last me 4 months. Take a wild fucking guess what went wrong.

I was hoping to make it last until April when my VA money went up, but I guess I'll be looking at buying another car earlier than I wanted to.

If you don't mind me adding on, I had a very unlucky day on Saturday. Driving home from a conference, I sped up quite a bit to pass a slow moving car. Wouldn't you know that a state trooper was hiding and caught me for speeding just as I was finishing passing (85 in a 70.) Then, when I pull out my vehicle registration, I realized that I was late on renewing it (by a few days) since the online renewal never got forwarded to my new address. All of that was bad, and I'm dreading the possibility of having to drive 4 hours to the traffic court where that happened..

The worst part is the officer had me stand behind my car (I guess because the shoulder was narrow and he didn't want to stand to the side of it.) Anyway, I apparently stood on or near a nasty ant pile. I suddenly felt them biting my legs while driving on a part of the I-10 where there is no where to pull over. It took me 10 miles before I could pull over and get them all brushed out of my pant's legs. Now, I have the nastiest bite marks that itch like crazy and are driving me to distraction while I'm trying to work.

I know having cars break down are no fun (had quite a few in medical school) but at least you don't have a bunch of ant bites on your legs

Thanks for the amusing story. I'm sure it's not amusing to you, but at least I got a laugh out of it.

I'm not really that upset by it anymore. I was planning on buying a car in the upcoming spring. It just now that I'll have do with a much smaller down payment.

I wasn't crazy about the car after I had put the "new" motor in. That's the reason why I started to save for a better one, so I can get into a nicer car for the final year of school. I'll have a tighter budget until the spring, but I will manage.

Hah.
I didn't look at the date on the first post in this thread and was thinking, "wow, 2 days in a row, first his car throws a rod, then this!"

Still sucky luck.
