I did the cutest thing today. I accidentally saved over a shared file that a dozen people in my company need to support our largest client. When I called the head of the other department to tell him I flushed their file, he let out a gasp over the phone that almost blew my ear off. I did get the IT department to recover a previous version from a backup, but hearing the guy gasp was the best part. It was almost like that time I had surprise sex with him.

If that fat kid in the Chevy baseball commercial stepped up to the plate and pointed toward the fence, I'd throw the ball straight into his ear. I don't care if it was a coach-pitch league.

Is there any more annoying trend on Twitter than people asking for re-tweets from famous people? And then the famous person doing it. Makes me unfollow them in a second.

Welp, I guess Sony is making the decision of whether I ever want to buy a PS3 or XBox 360 for me since they are removing HD capability through component cables in their consoles. My 52 inch HDTV doesn't have HDMI input.

About 7 months....I think the boys messed with it to the point it broke, but I can't say they did as I haven't witnessed it.

I'm tempted to get one, still not quite sold on it. Did the UFC trainer come with a steel cage?

Here's the list of Oscar nominees in 1987 for Best Supporting Actor:

Moonstruck - Vincent Gardenia
The Untouchables - Sean Connery (winner)
Broadcast News - Albert Brooks
Cry Freedom - Denzel Washington
Street Smart - Morgan Freeman

How on God's green Earth did R. Lee Ermey not get a nomination for his role in 'Full Metal Jacket'?

Good question. All those nominees were very good (don't know about the Moonstruck one since I never saw it). My vote would have been for Mr. Ermey though.

he did get a Golden Globe nod. Connery again was the winner (as well as
one of only two to be on both lists)

Sean Connery – The Untouchables as Jim Malone †
Richard Dreyfuss – Nuts as Aaron Levinsky
R. Lee Ermey – Full Metal Jacket as Gunnery Sergeant Hartman
Morgan Freeman – Street Smart as Fast Black
Rob Lowe – Square Dance as Rory

Crap.. I f'd up my neck/shoulder again. Last time I did this I was curled up in the fetal position on our hardwood floor trying to get to sleep. If I lay down, I turn into a turtle on my back and I can't get up off whatever I'm laying on.

Going to be a fun night.

So, my latest chess video was flagged for "matching third party content." It says click to view copyright info, but I get an error every time I click it.

Well, let's just say that there is precisely 0 way this violates any copyrights. The video is just a chessboard with me playing a game and the audio is me talking. Nothing else.

What the hell? What am I supposed to do here? Is there someone to email?

Here is the video, if you are curious: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzxQNwEd9_E

I can't possibly watch it all and keep my sanity but is it possible that showing the video from whatever website/program you're using violates something? Other than that I have no clue.

How do I tell if a thought it is un random enough to warrant it's own thread?

Did anyone see that story over the weekend about the double amputee (legs) who was let on a roller coaster and was promptly thrown off, as in thrown to his death?

The Michael Irvin story in Out is pretty good. The line about his father telling him, yes that's your brother and we love your brother, sums it all up pretty perfectly.

Well, I have like 50 other videos that use the same software (which is 100% free, by the way--none of the software in the video is commerical and most is open source).

I'm baffled by this, honestly.

And yeah, the videos are meant for people that play chess--I publish them on youtube but also on chessvideos.tv where lots of people watch and comment on them. We help each other out with our games. I'm certainly not asking anyone to watch them, just explain what the heck is wrong here and how to fix it.

It happened here in Buffalo at Darien Lake. He was almost done with the coaster when he was tossed.

He shouldn't have been let on, but the family is saying he died doing what he wanted to do...it's a weird story...

I know I've gotten older & things change, but since when did so many middle school aged boys start acting like middle school aged girls (i.e. random drama & what not?) I don't remember it being so much like that back in the day, although I suppose I kinda did my own thing more than average at that age. I hate to wish my life (or my kid's) away but this phase with his peer group can't end soon enough for my taste.

Frozen yogurt seems to be the new trendy thing now...again. There's at least three frozen yogurt places on the main block nearest to me. And with a jamba juice, starbucks, and potbelly also on the same block, that's a ton of dessert competition. But this place is by far the best:

frozen yogurt Chicago | Chicago frozen yogurt | yogurt Chicago | frozen yogurt shops Chicago

It's self serve, and they charge by the ounce. So you can combine flavors of yogurt if you want, and add whatever toppings you want. Pretty cool.

Yeah, in the last 6 months or so, we've seen several of these self-serve frozen yogurt boutique-looking shops open up here in Lexington. Orange Leaf and Fro-Jo are the two I can remember. Which is strange, because when we left Florida, the one thing we missed the most was TCBY (the only one here is at the northern KY airport). Now, 5 years later, frozen yogurt is a big deal.

Hottest one in Athens, GA (Yoforia) is the same gimmick. They're probably doing 2x-3x the business of the other 3 or 4 places here combined, and definitely have the buzz of being the hippest of the locations.

So TCBY changed then? Before, they used to basically be the yogurt version of Baskin Robbins-type places - 3 sizes, certain flavors, etc. Haven't been to a TCBY in over 5 years.

I think all the new TCBYs are like this now. I don't know if they went back and changed the previously existing ones or not. This one is only a year or so old.
