I created a bowling thread some time ago, but I want to put this here.

I'm in a head-to-head league, and I was leading one of my opponents tonight 151-129. I was done, and he had one frame to go. Down by 22 pins, he needs to get two strikes and at least 3 pins to win. He had not had a good game so far.

First ball... strike.
Second ball... strike.

At this point, I'm up 151-149, and I figure it's over. I prepare to pick up my equipment and get out of the way.

Third ball... he knocks down one pin.

Two pins ties the game, three or more wins it. He knocks down only one and I win 151-150. I am not looking forward to the day when the bowling gods ask me to cash in my soul for this one.

That sad possibility crossed my mind already, it would be right on track with how things seem to happen. Then, I figure she has the baby which leads to

a) she's killed in a bar fight/wreck/overdose
followed by

b) multiple paternity tests to figure out who the daddy is
followed by

c) custody/guardianship claims by several prospective baby daddies PLUS her parents
followed by

d) shocking revelation of the actual sperm donor (I'd guess Jose but that seems to obvious)
followed by

e) discovery that the biological father has no interest in custody whatsoever
followed by

f) custody eventually awarded to a foster family ... who eventually show up on TV years later asking for the public's help in finding their missing trouble teen.

I'm totally taking 7/12 off. I guess I'll try to plow through a ton of ADwD, although now a part of me is arguing for delaying gratification and drawing it out since it might be years till the next book. I guess I'll be reading it more than once though.

A man and a woman marry. Woman has previous daughter. Goes to court to get custody. Would her new brother-in-law's status as a registered sex offender have any bearing on how the case went? What about if the sexual charge did not involve a minor? New Brother-in-law lives 2 hours away.

Well, just to follow the whole OJ thing, Casey Anthony is being sued by the nanny she claimed had stolen the baby. Casey might have been looking at freedom and dollar signs, but their lining up to get their hands on the cash.

Wasn't there a 'What the hell are you reading?' thread at some point on this board? Maybe a book thread or something.

I searched today and couldn't find anything recent. I want to get some suggestions on what I should next next after I finish the new Martin book coming out next week.

Saw an interesting thing on FB today, an old HS classmate of mine is taking a year's sabbatical , from pretty much everything. After planning & saving for several years, he & his wife have both quit their jobs & are going to spend the next year doing ... whatever the hell you do when you're on sabbatical I guess.

Both of them are planning to blog about the experience separately, so it ought to be a heck of an interesting read (he was quite a character back in the day & I've seen nothing to lead me to believe that's changed much) Once he's got his blog up I'll probably share the link here, it seems like something that might be of interest to some FOFC'ers.

I got this email from my 18 year old daughter. How does she not see this as a scam?

------------------------------------

I just got a $2,000 scholarship to a Korean Idol Academy in Canada.
Bad news? Of course!
It starts Aug 1st, school ends Aug 5th
Dorm move in is Aug 27-28
Idol evaluation day (when the big name companies come to see who they want) is Aug 28!

My big chance and i can't go... though I would but i need $2,000 more dollars since I only got a half scholarship and a plane ticket from Canada to Ohio? eh...
