Fife is the first character I'm not really familiar with. That's going to fudge up my voting a bit.

Wow. There was a time when I was one of the younger people on this board - but this shows me that must not be the case anymore .

With my mom it was MASH. I swear I've seen every single episode of that show at least a dozen times. Never gets old though, good clean fun while bringing real issues out in the open during a time when most of America was just burying its head in the sand.

Did the rules change to allow this pick? I thought once a show had a drafted character, that show was off the list.

Only for that person. So he can';t pick anyone else from All in the Family, but anyone else can.

30 years old and an infrequent watched of Andy Griffith (that's the show, right? Eep, I am feeling so inadequate!)

Wow - you're 30 and didn't watch Andy Griffith? Surprising to me - it was on everywhere when we were kids.

3.3 Arnold Ziffel - Pet

I almost went with 'son' as the category here, because Fred and Doris Ziffel treated him as their son. But name me a smarter. more kickass pet in all of sitcom history. Go ahead. You can't. That's why Arnold gets my pick for the pet category. Everyone else can have their dog, cat, bird or fish. For a sitcom, you can't get wackier than a pig.

IMHO as a voter:

1.11 and 1.12 were HUGE picks. June Cleaver could have easily gone #1 overall.

Props also to 2.5 and 2.6 - also IMHO quite "genre defining"

Team DeTox believes in bringing family together through song and dance; or in this case, drinking. Heavily.

So, we pick:

Nice last 2 selections. Of course, the 'family' voters will kill a bar as a pick.

Had Arnold on my short list for pets, but didn't know how long he would last.

This draft would have been 8 times harder if a single pick ruled out an entire show. You would've had people picking characters from Eisenhower & Lutz or Joey by the end of the thing.

I've got two maid/housekeeper picks which are solid/huge. I wonder if someone will try to utilize them in another category or something - if you're desperate for a pick in that category, shoot me a PM and i'll sell my idea...lol

OK, so maybe I am missing something here and if I am then I am an idiot, but

3.8 Brother- Bart Simpson

He could fit into a few catergories. I looked on IMDB to be certaind, but the only 2 simpsons charectures are Burns and Homer, neither voiced by the woman who does Bart.

Good pick, although I find it hard to intermingle live action with cartoons. In my head I see Michael Jordan playing basketball with the Looney Tunes.

Wisconsin you say? Yes, Wisconsin - mainly that of Milwaukee (or just across the border to Chicago). You've got Happy Days and all of its spin offs, Married with Children, Step by Step, Dave Nelson from News Radio and more recently, That '70s Show.

I think good pick, but for some reason it doesn't have the chutzpah of the Cheers Bar or Gilligan's Island.

Most of my other picks for other categories are still sitting out there so I wanted to nab what I think is the best overall location before someone else did.

Go look up the list of sitcoms that take place in Milwaukee/Chicago area.

Compare that to 1 for Cheers (Boston) and 1 for Gilligan's Island (the island) They are distinct locations yes, but they aren't the real heart of sitcoms or TV in general. IMO of course.

3.10 Roseanne Conner - Mother

In the 90s, she defined mom for a generation of kids who grew up lower middle class. She cared about her kids and loved her husband, but was definately no June Cleaver, she was actually real.

Ouch.

Although, Married with Children wasn't in Wisconsin just Peggy's family was from Wanker county in Wisconsin.

Gah. Great pick. I debated for a while between Edna Garrett and Roseanne. I should've gone Roseanne.
